I've said this before, I joined this forum specifically to find out what's going on with this very topic. Over the years I would spend hours in shops, dealers and events discussing the hobby, I'm lucky that I've made some good relationships and get invited to some nice physical events, one of the topics pre-covid was gentle price drifts, but then covid hit and the watch market started going crazy, I couldn't get around to shops and watch events, so I looked online for some information, and here I am.

I prefer face to face events or discussions, I'm not that big on posting multiple pictures and bragging about how many watches I have or how many PPs my wife has, I've never had an Instagram account and I'm not into the hype or showing off. I read a lot on here and it's a good source of information sometimes, I might post if I have a particular watch and someone wants advice on whether to buy one, but I rarely feel the need to contribute to the mutual backslapping threads that you thrive in, I don't come from that angle, showing off is frowned upon traditionally for me.
I'm more likely to be found somewhere quieter probably talking about something like an old Ehrhardt pocket watch.

If discussing the insta-hype pricing and it's demise is against rules then I'm happy to receive a message from the site admin and I'll stop doing it, but until then maybe I'll post what I feel is relevant topical stuff and you can either read it or don't.

Eid Mubarak.

I specifically said "talk watches" and this is a watch forum. There's actually a forum rule on discussion of price, and I will reproduce here for your information:

(iv) THIS IS A ROLEX WATCH DISCUSSION FORUM AND NOT A PRICE OR INVESTMENT OR DISCOUNT DISCUSSION FORUM SO IF YOU HAVE A QUERY REGARDING PRICES, INVESTMENTS OR DISCOUNTS THEN MAKE YOUR OWN PERSONAL ENQUIRIES AND INVESTIGATIONS AND DO NOT POST THOSE ISSUES HERE.

I'm inviting you to talk about watches because you claimed you have a "decent collection" but all I saw was mostly price topic from you. You were the one who brought up your collection. I have never asked you to post pics "to brag" though, and not sure why you had that impression. There are other pictorial threads and incoming threads where interested parties can join. You can also open threads on pocket watches where like-minded individuals will join. I also like f2f discussions about watches but this is an online watch forum, which is just another medium for watch enthusiasts to discuss watches. There are thousands of threads on watch discussion here - yes, people do talk about watches here and it's perfectly normal.

And of course, it's your prerogative to talk about price collapse. I get that you love talking about this very topic....................... hmm........................... anyway this is the last exchange with you on this price topic and repeating my point ad nauseam is frowned upon "traditionally".

If we're critiquing each others content, I've just had a look at your threads, it's all new hype watches every few months, multiple Nautilus, Panda Daytona, PPs, etc, then pictures showing off cases of your wife's expensive watches and much more of the same "Look at me" stuff.

There are 270+ posts on this thread and multiple other threads on this subject, with thousands of comments on price speculation, from hundreds of members of this forum, but you've decided to make it personal with me and now I can see why.
You're totally hype and I'm totally anti-hype, we're always going to clash.

I think I'll just read only from now on, I'm too long in the tooth to clash with you new breed of watch guys. You'll all be gone in 5yrs when this fashion moves on.

yup I remember being able to buy this at msrp and thinking it was way too much $$ for a s/s watch lol. I have accepted that no matter how much the watch market drops, I'll never ever be able to buy certain pieces again - ever

agreed, this is possibly the biggest negative from this whole watch craze of late. I've recently sold my solid pm pieces, and a few other conspicuous ones since I doubt I'll ever be able to wear them comfortably again

The retail Rolex market from ADs will remain robust as ever. Simply more folks want the watches than available. The secondary market prices got crazy high, and they needed to return to more saner levels. Nothing goes straight up forever.
