This is the Grand Seiko GMT SBGM021. Unlike many other Grand Seikos that are aesthetically unique, the SBGM021 is a classic Grand Seiko that combines the functional aspects of a Seiko with the quality of a Grand Seiko. Released in 2010, the SBGM021 was a functional take on a GMT watch. A highly polished case with a delightful ivory dial, the SBGM021 looks deceptively simple but actually incorporates a high level of finishing, including polished hands and hour indices.

The movement that powers the SBGM021 is the 9S66 movement, which is essentially the 9S65 with an additional time zone. As expected from the brand, accuracy is key with an even smaller variance than that of the COSC expectations. The movement can also be admired via the display sapphire caseback. As for the dial, the SBGM021 is detailed without being too busy. There is a date window at the three, central seconds and an additional blue hand which marks the second time zone. The dial is also double-signed Seiko and Grand Seiko.

Condition

This SBGM021 is in very good pre-owned condition. There are some light hairlines on the case from prior wear which is accentuated by the high polish of the case. The caseback remains in excellent condition. There are no dings on the case. There is a small hairline on the crystal which can only be seen under heavy magnification. The watch is in full working order and comes in a full set with its original box, certificate and manuals.
