Sorry for the necropost but I just found the thread and tried the 'trick.'
It actually works! It's pretty insane. Wanted to speed up my watch, just shook it vigorously in a horizontal plane (I kept the watch flat, ie. face parallel to the ground.) After a couple times of doing this it was right on target. Used this for comparison: https://time.is/ |

All I can say is shaking a watch to gain one second is more intelligent than trying (with certainty) to forecast watch price trends.
