I changed high schools my junior year and only made a couple of close friends that I still stay in contact with. However, I've become quite close with quite a few of my brothers high school buddies and play golf with them on a regular basis. It seems more of his classmates stayed in the area whereas mine ended up all over the world. Vietnam may have had something to do with that. I attended one reunion and said that's enough, way too much posing for me. Most of my real friendships have developed as an adult and I get together with these guys every chance I get.

Harsh, but for the most part, true for me. I've gone to some reunions and enjoyed them(smaller subgroupings), but most of them have reinforced my reasons for staying away! some people love reunions to talk about what happened 'way back when'

Hey, Faith.

We attended my 20th and her 25th and 30th since we're so close to where she attended HS.

Its the one or two special buds that you catch up with that make it worth while. We knew they were coming. Otherwise, we would have stayed home.

WHAT are you doing up at 2AM?!

Is responding to her note bothering you this much?

To answer your first question - My boyfriend got called into the hospital due to an emergency as we were driving towards a wonderful restaurant for dinner. Very disappointed, geared up for a good night and all dressed up! That's the nature of his work so we're going out tonight instead.

In response to your other question, no, it really isn't bothering me that much, I'll write Barbara back within the next couple of days. (If she asks to get together, I'll give her your number ) Take care, Faith

Stay well, have fun at your niece's wedding today.

Even though high school wasn't the best time in my life, I still like to keep in touch with people. I actually only really talk to two people from high school, but Facebook has helped me keep updated on the rest.

I did go to my 10 year high school reunion and it wasn't bad. There's a casual 15 year high school reunion for me this month and I'll probably go to that.

Aside from about 4 of my class of 160, I couldn't conceivably care less about going to my ten-year reunion. Coming up next year, as a matter of fact, and I keep getting emails about it, with lists of who's going. It looks so far to be either (a) the jocks who haven't done anything since that 3-TD game against Central or (b) guys who fit comfortably into the "generic" niche that I fell in. Neither one is worth shelling out the fifty bucks a ticket.

As for the 4? One's in Atlanta, another in New York, a third in Chicago, and the last I have lost sight of- he has zero web presence.

I don't keep on touch much, my high school was full of drama and after all these years the drama is still there.

I went to one wayy back when. Didn't do anything for me.
I don't hang around them now, not really interest in seeing them 25+ years later.
There is a 30 year thing for our Jr school going on this fall. I checked out the facebook page. OMG, looks like a bunch of Mug Shots you would see at the post office.
No thanks.

I graduated high school a few years ago and couldn't care less about attending any type of reunion. Just a bunch of boring people for the most part.

I'm not inclined to go to my reunion since I am in contact with those who mean something to me. Those who don't, who cares?!

(I, too, moved to San Diego from Philly for grad school and stayed for almost 15 years.)

Do you keep in contact with high school friends? Attend reunions? Have you joined signed up with sites that put you in touch with your school friends? There is a big reunion planned for my high school graduating class in the not-to-distant future, and I'm finding I have little motivation to attend. I have 4 or 5 people on a site now to whom I should respond, and I'd simply like to send along a brief, perfunctory message. What's your feelings and experiences been like regarding renewed interaction with high school buddies and reunions?
No. None. I did go to a 20 yr reunion. Rode my motorcycle 12 hrs straight to attend and it was such a lunch bag let-down I left early. Feel free though.

O.K. I'll write it for you! Tell her this...

It's nice to hear from you. I've been doing well. Well up until last week anyway. I have three children. The father of the first two died, he was shot. After about a year I met this great guy named Steve, his nickname is "Snake". We moved into this great house and have been having a great time until last week when he got busted. The police came and they took most of our stuff even though it wasn't all paid for with drug money; Now things are really tight. For the first time I'm wondering how I'll feed my kids. I hate to ask but could you lend me about $200 I'll pay you back as soon as "Snake" gets out on bail. Write back soon.

Send this and I guarantee you will never hear from her again!

I keep in touch with a couple of HS friends but for the most part lost touch. Most people in HS annoyed me and I am sure they would still annoy me.

20th reunion next year.... not planning on attending even though I live less than 2 miles from my HS.

I've gone back for two of five high school reunions. Active duty military kept me from two and I just missed the other one.

I enjoyed the two I attended and wanted to attend the others but just couldn't swing it.

Actually, getting back in touch with some of my friends from high school has been very beneficial for me. It has increased my network of people that I can turn to in the event there is some for of resource that I need to gain access to. For example, one of my high school classmate's is now in a financial services and lending job, and I needed to help a new venture get money for their startup costs. Well, I turned to him and we are all happy. Regardless of how I may have felt about those people in the past (or lack of feelings rather, I could care less one way or another), they have all moved on to careers and given the history there, I feel comfortable asking them for advice. Like I said, all people are happy.
