Just turned down a trade. What is your opinion?
Dealer has just offered me a straight trade for my 116518LN Gold Panda for 116500LN White which I reluctantly turned down. I am not after the better "investment" and I am fully aware of their resale values.
The 116500LN definitely looks a lot better in real life and it is an itch I have always wanted scratched. I feel this one will grow on me upon actual ownership. My current 116518LN I personally think aesthetically looks so much better, interesting and suits me more since I am quite a sporty person. And it's PM. Just would like to hear your opinions :). |

Great decision. I would never trade a PM for a SS, and I think you have the better watch!

Your watch is 2-2.5x MRSP of the 116500, its also PM and looks way better. So if you ask me you definitely made the right decision.

Glad you turned it down! Had you accepted it, that would have been the greatest scam of this century! First of all, PM > SS. Secondly, it’s not a straight trade. On the secondary market it’s at least a couple of thousands more.

In my opinion you made the right call. Only way it would make sense is if you wanted to get out of a PM and cash was coming your way…I would look to at the 116500…

No one at the right mind will trade PM Daytona for SS Daytona.

Absolutely correct looking in hindsight! I won't lie, the thought of accepting the trade did actually cross my mind but I am very glad I chose not to. If I am being absolutely honest with myself, I reckon it was a bit finally having an extremely desired model and something new and shiny to play with and almost losing myself into the hype. It's time like these I am glad TRF exists to keep me in check. |

If you did that trade you would have ripped yourself off badly.
If you REALLY want to do that sell your gold one and just buy a SS. The SS Panda has dropped a crapload of money recently |

Offering to trade a $12,000 watch for a $30,000 watch.
Even with secondhand prices in mind I would've looked at this dealer like he has two heads.

Was this "dealer" or whoever it was, thinking that she or he was giving you a good deal?? Honestly, I would have run out of that place faster than I could hold on to my PM Daytona.
You were being scammed in my opinion and I am glad to hear that you turned down the unfair offer. Actually, I had a 116500LN White. I figured as a "Rolex guy", an SS Daytona should be in my collection. But it never sang to me. It was just a watch. It looked boring to me. So, I traded it for a 116519LN WG/Gray dial Daytona that I fell in love with at first sight and still love it. I hope your YG Panda has started to grow on you. |

No way would I do that trade! I personally would enjoy what you already have so much more than the SS Panda! The 116518LN Gold Panda is an absolutely beautiful piece!!
I haven't followed the market for the 116518, but aren't they going for around mid $50-60K? I think in recent times you can buy a SS Panda for mid $40K's? If those numbers are anything close to correct, that's A LOT of money you're leaving on the table if you did the trade! |
