Datejust Champagne Dial

Hi all,

Any feedback on the 126333 with Champagne dial? Is this a less desirable dial or in high demand? I am hearing mixed feedback and wanted to get some thoughts from here(enthusiasts).

Who gives a damn about if it’s popular? If YOU like it, that’s all that matters. I’m not sure what “mixed” feedback means - it’s a Rolex, probably one of the most classic configurations there is in the whole lineup.

This 100%. Great shots too.

I will say that if you go this route you should really consider the fluted/jubilee configuration or at least the fluted/oyster if you must. In the end, buy what you love.

And your pictures prove why this reference is the most iconic Rolex ever made and one that has been copied the most.
Fabulous.

Popular or not, the feedback from me is to make sure you go see it, try it on, and find out if you can tell the time. I always thought the classic champagne dial/champagne hands was the come-all/end-all of DDs and DJs. After I tried one on, I found out unfortunately with my own eyes that the same color hands over the same color dial is hard to tell the time, especially as the light gets dimmer. While the color and watch is beautiful, if it's hard to tell the time, then......

This might not be so in your case.

Definitely a desirable dial despite it being very common. The champagne dial is the classic Rolex look. I have one and its actually my favorite watch, even over the sports models.

Legibility can be a problem with the hands matching the dial color. What I learned to do with telling the time is I'll focus on the lume of the hands. The minute hand has more lume than the hour hand and that's how Ive gotten used to telling the time. I've seen some pictures where the hands were painted a darker shade to give some contrast as well. I've seen this on the champagne roman dial as well some vintage models.

I love it, I have a daytona and I like to more than that. But after owning a few I settled on the 36 for the TT datejust. The 41 is out of proportion somehow. And this is from someone whose second favourite watch is a radiomir.

Beautiful DJ. It is pretty hard to go wrong with any Rolex configuration in my opinion.
