15500 blue vs silver - hype and exclusivity aside
So I have a 15500 in blue and have recently checked out the silver. I think I like the silver more - it pops really nicely and shows off the pattern more. The blue seems a bit muted compared to blues of other brands like Rolex and VC. Not to say it's bad, but the white seems to just pop more.
Does anyone agree when taking the blue exclusivity out of the picture? |

I have a slight feeling I would prefer the white over the blue.
I’ve never been able to see one in person though, so it’s just based on pictures. Ironically if I had expressed my interest in the white one I would probably have had it years before the blue, with much less stress and about 4 price rises previous. It’s so unfortunate that they don’t have demo models like Rolex are now doing so that you can compare and contrast. I suspect the boutiques will probably be able to offer this now but the old AD’s certainly didn’t. |

I looked at both watches on 47th St. last year, bought the white because I thought it was spectacular, the blue was nice but I didn’t think it was worth paying the extra premium. To me the white dial is unique and mesmerizing and I stare at it a lot. If both were same price on secondary market I would have chosen white.

Blue and black for me, then silver, and gray last. Grande tapisserie dials are pretty easy to see and appreciate on darker dials imo. The blue specifically looks different depending on the light

I prefer blue and black over the silver personally. But if you like the silver more then go for it, forget about "exclusivity" and get the one you like. Bonus is you should be able to get the silver 15500 and a nice wad of cash your way for your blue!

I too enjoy the silver dial for the standard Royal Oaks more than the blue ones.

AP has a very nice blue. I like all of them except for perhaps black. I would just put black last. I cannot believe people are paying over 50 K for a 20 K watch though. I can’t wait for this insanity to end. The 15500 is a very nice reference but it’s not 50K. If you have the chance to get the white tile I would definitely do it. White is third place for me. I like blue, gray, white and then black.

If forced to choose I would pick the white over blue. The reason is that the white is an incredibly dynamic white, changing color from white, to silver, to grey depending on how the light hits it. Also, the white appears a bit larger than the blue (optical illusion) and that works for me personally with the RO 15450. I would happily own both the white and the blue as they wear differently. In fact, I’m on the list for the blue 37mm, and will likely get it once the 50th year is over. I’d like the ruthenium, too, but I cannot justify that one as it’s too close to the white, IMHO.
I love royal oaks and my Chicago boutique folks have been incredibly cool, which only makes me like the brand more. |

The wife has the white one. It's incredible imo. I prefer it to the blue.

I like the monotone grey one the best, than the silver (hesitated a little before I made my order). Never considered the blue one, very nice for sure but not for me.
