Postingthis because I want to know has anyone have similar experience?? Do dealers still asks for 100% more than retail
Well anyone who had any common sense would know a unofficial retailer is not a Rolex AD.But any other retailer can ask any price anyone who is willing to pay as Rolex watches today are little more than £$€ object things and little more.

The money means a lot more to people in these countries and they aren't just going to let that extra margin walk out the door with a stranger.
Are you speaking from experience in Cairo or just speaking generally?

I'm speaking from extensive experience living and working in the Middle East and dealing with cultures where haggling is acceptable and expected.

Not Cairo specifically.

In Egypt you often have to give petty bribes known as baksheesh in order to get what you want or need.

Using a public toilet? Give the attendant a few coins and the experience will be so much better.

Friend worked for state dept. Recommended a local tour guide. Told me that back in the day you can request for items in the Cairo museum on the black market.

Better to spend money on that than a submariner they’re printing out daily.
lol. In Egypt, 30K will get you a ten thousand dollar watch or some priceless black market Egyptian art.

I remember visiting a jewelry shop in Cairo and the owner had a gun out on the counter.

Was there in April. Actually went into both Rolex at the Four Seasons and in the Stars Mall by default while family was walking around…zero stock, but didn’t care tbh. Recommend going down to Luxor and/or Sharm Al Sheik if possible.

I doubt if he is an AD, that could be an asking price.
