What does it mean when an AD is saying they are receiving stock

Do they know which stock they are receiving? Im mainly looking for a 31mm DJ for my sister and a GMT for myself. Curious if the AD will grab a batch of stock and allocate most of it and only have few pickings.

If an AD did not know what stock they have incoming, they couldn't run the business. A sales associate may not know, but his job is to sell, not to procure.

Pretty sure he was talking about receiving stock in Rolex as opposed to bonds. See stocks give you partial ownership in a corporation, while bonds are a loan from you to a company or government. The biggest difference between them is how they generate profit: stocks must appreciate in value and be sold later on the stock market, while most bonds pay fixed interest over time. Hopefully this market will turn around for your AD.

Just ring AD in question when he gets whatever stock he gets delivered

Start with the 31mm DJ. Then go from there.

At most ADs, your GMT is basically a non-starter. LOL. It doesn't matter how they allocate because you're not on the list. Unless you're a baller asking for a full rose GMT.

a 31mm can be ordered but don't expect to see it for a few months. As far as the more popular models like a GMT, your AD does not know when one will be coming. Rolex will send these out to whomever AD and whenever they damn well please. And when the AD finally does get some sport models, who are they gonna call for the allocation? You don't know that either. Best to have a visit every once in awhile but don't be a pest. Perhaps buy some other stinkers, like a 31mm or other value brands while you are waiting for the good stuff

I would ask the AD. They always get stock. I have seen close to 30 Rolex at my AD one time (this year not on display) all where spoken for.

ADs know what stock they can expect for the upcoming year just not exactly when it will arrive. For instance, if your AD gets 12 BLRO a year they may not get 1 per month but will end up with 12 by the end of the year. Very likely to get slight increase yr after yr and some during holidays.. the real issue is if you are getting one of those 12.

Depending on the relationship you have with your AD will depend on what they tell you. They will usually keep these details vague because they don’t want to upset you by saying we get 12 a year and you get nothing…

Best of luck

Probably means they are not selling it all to the grey dealers now so don’t have to hide that they are getting watches from Rolex

This.

My AD knows what is coming over a given period, 12 months IIRC. They are not 100% certain what is arriving when.

You said 31mm. This should be relatively easy.

You also said GMT.... could be a short wait. Could be years. Could be never.

Anyway, "Receiving stock" depends on the AD. If they're a "cool" AD it means you'll get a call when they've worked through they're lists. If they're the kind of AD with strings attached it means you must first perform some kind of act before they'll give you watch.

For example, spend a large amount on jewelry. (But we've seen this is not universally the case)

The Date-just won't be much of a problem to get, but the GMT will require you to more work than asking what an AD is expecting from Rolex.

Most likely, the AD knows what's in each shipment when it leaves Rolex. Not sure what kind of system is used, but there's probably some kind of documentation transmitted in advance, for the AD to check against upon arrival.

They pretend they have no idea what will arrive or when. Like boxes show up randomly with zero awareness.

I read somewhere that the US and the UK are getting the watches originally meant to go to Russia. That could explain the increasing incoming threads of late. Best of luck.
