How to know if dial swap has been done

Got my first Rolex from an AD last month. Officially a Rolex owner !

Looking for another Rolex, was thinking about getting one from Chrono24.

Specifically looking at getting a Wimbledon dial. If I am buying without box and Papers, how would I know if the watch was dial swapped with a regular DJ?

A Wimbledon dial is a regular version DJ?!

Buy with box and papers and you’ll have leas concern over this possibility.

Some cards (but certainly not all) mention the dial type, e.g. "Slate roman numerals" - don't expect to see the card saying "Wimbledon"!

Nothing wrong with a swapped out dial as long as it's available on the model in question. Which is why Rolex offers various models with various dial options, various bezel options, and various bracelet options.

My watch was manufactured in 2021 and purchased at an AD in May 2021. My warranty card does not mention the dial.

However, do you see that little white plastic tag on the green string in the photo above? The other side of that little white tag has the FULL reference number. The full reference number tells "the whole story." That is, it will tell you which model watch, which bracelet, which bezel, and which dial were original to the watch. Do a Google search on the full reference number, and you'll get your answer.

Problem is most of the times is kept by the AD, so no way to check that…..
