Thoughts on YachtMaster 42 Yellow Gold

Haven’t had a chance to see this in the flesh yet. Briefly had the 40 rose gold a couple years back. The 42 size, yellow gold and oyserflex combination may be the perfect gold Rolex to add to my collection.

Who all has one, or has tried one, and what are your thoughts?

I like it, not enough to buy one perhaps but it's a gorgeous piece nonetheless.

I just made a thread about this a few days ago. My AD offered it to me. I went in and tried it on. Wow. Awesome wrist presence. The yellow gold with black just works so so so well. The case is large and flat. Almost like a SD43 but with Submariner thickness.

The only reason I did not purchase it was because I have two other gold watches I am waiting on. YG blue sub and YG day date.

Take away. Its an amazing PM piece but best fitted as a second or third PM piece. If its your sole PM piece, I would not.

I originally wanted the YM40, but trying on the 2 side by side, I like the YM42 size a lot more for a sporty watch.

I passed on the YM40 RG (AD called me) because the 42 YG is perfection to me…hoping to acquire one soon!

I think it's a nice piece. The matte black bezel makes it a little less loud despite being YG.

Partial to the white gold, but how can you go wrong with either, really?

It would be too large for me other than that it's perfect.

I like the watch but prefer PM Rolex watches to be on a bracelet. As a matter of personal fact, I prefer all Rolex watches to be on a bracelet. It is a lot of money for a rubber strap. Just my preference.

I thought this until I saw a couple in person on the wrist. Then i understood.

BUT if the same ceramic bezel came on bracelet or OF, i'd pick bracelet every time.

Ya when I tried on the oysterflex with a gold watch, it just didn’t do it for me. For the money, I wanted all gold.. if it’s part of a collection would make more sense. The oysterflex definitely makes the watch a lot more casual. Depends what you’re going for, they are very nice regardless.
