Def not a 126619 or 116619. Possibly a franken 116610. Hard to confirm based on the one picture.

I'd probably take it to an AD and have them open it up. You'll know the whole story then. Telling the uncle or calling him out is nothing but a problem waiting to happen. For all we know he bought a high-end replica and thought it was a nice gift. If it's fake, i'd throw it in a box and only wear it when the uncle is around - wait for him to come clean. If it's losing as much time as you stated, there's no way it's real.

I have not told him, I am going to give him another week to let the high or his wedding weekend burn down ever so slightly. I will most likely begin by suggesting how the stainless steel is not white gold and why I am able to distinguish between the two and leave it up to him to take it to our local AD to get the insides checked out.

Thanks for the wise words everyone!

The messenger always gets shot.
You have nothing to gain telling the truth nor does your friend or his douche uncle. So why upset everybody with the off chance of loosing a friendship ?

Is he not complaining that it’s a 40k Rolex and doesn’t keep correct time??? It’s basically worthless…it’s a fake watch that also does not keep time lol….

Let's also not forget that it's also possible that your friend knows that this watch is a fake and they just made it up as a party to let him have "such a big gift". Therefore I would recommend to my friend to ask for the warranty card, because his watch has a factory defect and therefore needs an in warranty repair.

In this case, the answer of your friend or uncle will decide everything, and nothing should be prejudged.

I think I would go the insurance / appraisal route along with showing him the Reddit feed. Just explain to him that fakes have gotten so good we need to make sure it's real. By showing him the feed you essentially take yourself out of it since it's random internet strangers calling it out not you alone. Then if / when it comes out fake you tell the uncle to make sure he wasn't suckered out of $40K+.

Let's hear more about the uncle. Try to involve him and get him talking. Where is the watch box, papers, etc?

"I want to get it insured. The AD can do an appraisal so I want to get the warranty card, too".
See what response that elicits.

Way to go, how to ruin the guys memories of his wedding day and relationship with his uncle in one fell swoop……*

Or

Don’t say anything. Is it really so important he deserves to know and be damned with the consequence?!*

Well, You did state the watch lost significant time during your first outing.
You could take it to your AD and have them open it up for a look "just to be safe" so your new gift does not have any unknown damage you my have caused.

It would be a less invasive maneuver, in my opinion, and shouldn't start any unwanted reaction should you find out any unwanted news.

Why would you risk losing a friendship over something so insignificant..as you said, he’s hardly a watch person.

last four posters have it right.
is it worth ruining a friendship and a friends wedding memories just to show off how much you know about watches ?

I'm siding with the comments let it be... If it is losing time so frequently your friend will take it to be inspected and will find out the truth.

Yeah- it's fake- doesn't keep time, the date magnification is off and other tells. But seriously this isn't about that- preserve the relationship.... the watch is just fodder...
