Yes it’s from approximately 1997 a few years before the non lug hole version

The Sub41 Date is trading unworn at 40% over retail. I'd wait till it comes further down at +20% and then buy.

Didn't read the whole thread. 16610 prices have come down quite a bit. I'd pick one up instead.

I think the waiting list, AD games, price, “is it safe to wear” questions, and the status symbol the watch has become has made me realize the current Submariner is miles away from the tool watch I was first attracted to.

If I could only find an alternative that I really liked. Not really into straight up homages. I have tried the Pelagos and I liked everything about it except for the thickness. The new 39mm Pelagos would probably fit the bill except it does not have a date. Same for the BB58. The escape valve on the Omega Seamaster kills it for me.

Any other suggestions for a great tool watch.
Here's my suggestion since you're not crazy about the Pelagos, Seiko Prospex SLA037J1, beautiful watch!

Otherwise, Stay the Course! I was on the waiting list at 3 AD's and it took 23 months before I "got the call". Be patient, it will happen. My advice is to visit the AD and f/u with a call or text to a salesperson every month or two to let them know you're still interested. Good Luck!

I understand what you are going through, that said hang in there - contact other AD’s that is how I scored my Rolex’s. When you get the call, you will be VERY glad you stayed with your goal and didn’t settle for less.. Go visit the AD on a regular basis a lot of AD’s will not make “the call” however the sales team will rotate a sale with walk ins for certain models like the Sub date!! You should be able to land the Sub. Good luck!

Be patient, I had to wait almost 18 months, but my AD came through, and I got it. Had it almost a year now, and it was definitely worth the wait.

Hang in there. I’ve gotten 3 watches from the 2 Central Colorado ADs in under a year. Aspen and Vail. I am not a high roller by any stretch.

If I were you I would look at a Blancpain Fifty Fathoms. Better build quality and finishing from a haute horology brand. Also readily available without the AD games.

Nice watch, but can I have it with a Rolex bracelet?

I don't do cloth or rubber. (Not even "Oysterflex")

Obviously not. You can have it on a Blancpain bracelet, though.
