NO! If I asked a AD to order a item for me, I'm taking it when it arrives.

And as Sooo many others have stated, The chance of getting a new release is about as good as me getting a date with Ana De Armas this Friday.

Heck no! I've already waited years.... I'd be adding another year at least.

Now all you whales who already have the entire catalog in your collection, by all means wait.

No way. Missing out on a piece you want in the hope of getting something you might like more which doesn't even exist, as far as you know?

In the past you could afford to wait until new releases were announced, since cases were full of watches at ADs. These days you can't refuse an allocation of something you want. I'd focus on the present moment and enjoy the watch now. If a more exciting model comes up, you can always reassess, but nothing can take away the joy you got from that watch.

Would you turn down a piece you desired now in anticipation of W&W new releases?

I got offered a 39mm explorer right before Rolex releases and when most rumors pointed to a new 41mm explorer I.

in hindsight I’m very glad I took the 39mm as I have no desire for a 36mm.

Moral of the story? If you like the piece being offered… buy it.

No, because the newly released piece you may/would want (if released) likely won’t be attainable for quite some time without significant buying history.

Yep, this.

Plus, imagine passing on something you asked for to then be offered a VTNR.

Only way I would turn down a piece that I’ve requested would be if I got one from another AD sooner.

No i’d buy when offered. Because the new w&w pieces take a few months to trickle in. By that time my AD rolex cool off period would probably be over.

Personally I think the only people who would say "yes" to this poll, are flippers or would-be "investors". If a genuine enthusiast wants a specific piece, why would they suddenly change their mind in the hope of something they know nothing about yet?

The only possible reason IMO is that they're hoping to get hold of "the very latest thing" (no matter what it is) for flipping purposes.

If what I was after was offered now there's no way I'm turning it down regardless of what's coming in March.

No, I'd buy now.

Traditionally new releases take a few months to even hit AD's after release anyway.

Since new rolex releases have been generally disappointing as of late, I wouldn't hold my breath. If you like something in the catalogue now, take it if offered.

Out of curiosity, is there a watch being offered and one that you may be looking forward to releasing?

No. None of us have any idea of what's coming at W&W. I'd buy what I wanted now, and on the off chance something came out that I liked I'd get on the list. It would probably be awhile before it arrived anyhow.

It’s far more likely that Rolex will do something so odd that it will make you look like a genius for purchasing the previous model.

Rather amusing that of the (currently) 17 poll responders who said would turn down a piece they previously wanted in anticipation of new releases, none have commented in the thread.

More flippers than a dive school!

(sort of)

Unless you own the bush. I would buy what I want and disregard what "may" be just around the corner.

Why would one turn down something they asked for??? If offered … jump in it.

No. If I know what I want, I know exactly what want, and I know how much I am willing to pay. Subsequently, I would move forward with a purchase if satisfied with the conditions of sale.
