Advice please, friend wants to buy one of my Subs!
Hi, Advice please. A close friend desperately wants to buy one of my Subs for her husbands 60th. I have a SD from 02 and a 16800 that has just been refurbished and running perfectly (+2-3 secs a day) Which should I let go? I am getting a fair bit of pressure, but to be honest I love them both and do not really want to loose either of them! Any ideas?

Then just keep them both because you might regret it later.

If you love them both, then that's your answer. Now, if you can live with just one, then that's your answer. Best of luck.

Got to agree......
I would help somebody get their own rather than feel pressured to let one of mine go............

It's easy to get an SD but harder to get a 16800 in good condition.

There seems to be a trend developing here. There are lots of good, honest Rolex watches available right here at TRF at reasonable prices.

Noboby should pressure you into selling any of your belongings. Just say NO and point her to the for sale section.

Sell the SD for 15,000.00 US dollars then buy 2 more SD's and give me the rest for giving you this perfect advise!

Now you're talking! Always wanted a DRSD My dream watch.
I'll share a storey and try to keep it short. Purchased a double red a couple of years ago, but could not pit my finger on why I had a niggling doubt about it. It had the correct vintage box, correct bracelet, perfect movement, but case was a bit too sharp for its age. (It did have the helium escape valve) I took scan of the dial, back and serial numbers and sent them to a couple of experts. Basically the fonts their spacing were not quite right on the dial and the same on the back, so it was made up. It seems if the scum are taking perfectly good watches, taking the movements out and fitting to new cases that have to be seen to be believed. The dials can be made also and there you have it. A great deal of trouble, but the rewards are very high! Anyway, the auction house gave me my cheque back without any question, even though it was after nearly 2 weeks. Odd why it was not cashed? BEWARE FRIENDS! |

The lengths people will go through to get a double red. Or to scam one for that matter. I am afraid to take mine out of the box anymore.
