Make sure that you are using the proper and authentic Rolex spring bar. As has been mentioned, they should fill the lug hole almost completely. Using substandard spring bars puts your watch at risk.

Also, I wonder if the old way isn't somewhat stronger. The spring bar is inserted into the strong solid lug for more of its length.

Hi, I recently bought a 1990 Datejust and I see that one of my lug holes are missing a pin or spring, I'm not sure what there called. Is this bad? Can this exposed hole cause damage to the case internals? One hole does have a pin inside but other one does not. It looks like this hole is only attached near the band/bracelet but I'm not sure. Any info would be appreciated. THANKS
