Submariner 41mm 6inch wrist

I’m about to pull the trigger on a new watch, but after more research the new Submariner has a bigger clasp and I’m worried this watch may not fit well or look right on my wrist due to new clasp size. My wrist is only six inches.

I currently wear a DateJust II with a total of 9 links, 6 on one side, and 3 on other side of clasp.

Let me know your thoughts before I purchase.

Thanks,
Britton

Many ADs should have an exhibition piece you can try on so you can see in person and determine how you feel about it.

Good luck!

It would be best to try a display model first. My wrist is 7" and the huge Submariner clasp spans the entire underside of my wrist with little room for movement.

Thanks for the info. I’ll make a trip to my local AD this week.

I have ~6.5" wrist and the Sub 41 fits very nicely. Looking for a photo to share. I think I have a few posts on this topic.

A 16610 Submariner would suit you fine.

I have a 124060 and a 7.25 inch wrist. For me, if the watch was any bigger, it would certainly be too big!

Only you can decide, but 'on paper' it sounds like it's going to be too big.

What about a 114060? It works on my 6.75” wrist, the 124060 does not

I tried one on recently. 6.5” wrist. Felt large, but wearable.

On my wrist (6.5), the DJ looks bigger than the sub.
So I would be tempted to say: if the DJ fits well, also the Sub should fit well.

If you don't actually need the Glidelock, are an Explorer 40 or AK clasp the same width? Could always try and obtain one of those and retrofit.

My wrist is 6.5 the 41mm fits absolutely perfect. I do have a lot of wrist surface though both top and bottom ... Best to try in person.

The clasp is huge. Here's on my 7in/18cm wrist, 60mm across (TT Sub41).

I too have a six inch wrist, and many large watches just look silly on me. However, the aforementioned svelte wrist is quite flat, so a large clasp is not usually an issue.

A lot depends on how you're built, round or flat.

What DJ do you have? Because I have a Submariner and a DJ41, and the Submariner wears bigger in every way. The Sub is bigger, thicker, and heavier. By comparison, the DJ41 feels light and dainty on my wrist, and it looks smaller too. I have 7.5" wrists, so either way, both fit great on me, but the Sub is definitely bigger in every way.

I have a 6.3" wrist, have worn many subs from the 16610 to the 126610.

IMHO, the 116610 was the sweet spot due to it being modern looking and felt like a tank. The 116610 had the boxy case, which actually wore well, but the 126610 has a slightly wider bracelet is what killed it for me.

You need to try it on, as every wrist is different.

See post #1, he's referring to the DJ II, which is the bigger DJ.

That is my impression too, everyone talks about the bigger case on the 116610, what about the massive bracelet on the 126610?

12 series Sub has a massive bracelet and clasp.
Definitely too big for OP.

OP, before spending five figures on a watch, you should definitely try on an exhibition. Your AD should have at least one variation of a Sub to try on. Good luck!

Too big for the 99% of owners of this model who don't dive, who really needs 20mm of adjustment?

Here is a pic of my DJ II on my wrist. My wrist or more flat than round. Picture makes watch look bigger than in real life, but I like the size of it on my wrist.

I did try on my friends 1993 Submariner today and it fit perfectly and not too big.

The clasp will be very big. On my 6.5 wrist it spans the entire length of the inside of my wrist. The watch head does not wear or seem big. Just have to get used to a long clasp.

I think you will like the Sub better as the bezel reduces the size of the dial and the dial is what you see. The DJ with its narrow bezel just appears larger as the dial may be a tad wider.

The DJ II has a pretty big bezel, and least my smooth one seems so.

5 digit subs wear much smaller than ceramic ones. imo a ceramic sub on a 6 inch wrist looks ridiculous but at the end of the day it's up to you. there are just so many great watches out there for smaller wrists that i'd much rather wear personally
