Spanish kiss story

Looks like the Spanish FA president going to have to resign as heard all 23 World Cup squad players have signed a letter saying won’t play again until he’s removed. Both parties offering different versions of what happened.

Either way - should have stuck to a handshake.

https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/23661...s-sacked-kiss?

Ps - looks like he was wearing a Cartier

I somehow doubt that in this moment he asked “May I kiss you and she said yes”. So what possible story could he fabricate that would explain his actions other than “well I’m a dumb ass”.

When I first saw this I thought it was some sort of cultural thing, the whole face and lips kissing thing in parts of Europe and Russia, even in men greeting.

Then I saw how the team was pissed I guess it was inappropriate after all.

The whole, “ when granny gave us a kiss as kids and slipped us the tongue”, cringe joke.

He also grabbed his crotch in celebration next to the Spanish Queen and her 16 year old daughter just before this episode so I don't think this guy has much of a filter. Exuberant celebration is one thing but this is just a spectacular demonstration of poor judgement and lack of decorum.

Spanish kiss story

It’s going to be a sensitive subject here on TRF and hope all the following comments will stay respectful like these have been.

My assessment: He will be out. If he has a parachute in his contract for retiring, he might “retire”. Otherwise he may get nothing if he is terminated under a “code of conduct” clause.

If you watch the whole scene including other players NOT ONE declined a hug or kiss.

If you watch the actual incident she puts her hands around his waist embracing him. Sure he was over exuberant but as she never reacted or objected. Walked away smiling
She also carried on celebrating and posting Instagram pictures. Only after, long after did she want to cash in on the 'me too' movement. (PTSD no doubt :-/)

Basically it's complete bollox. The lets go round up a posse as we are mortally offended
is part of why the west is in terminal decline and the rest of the world is busy pushing forward whilst the west is picking fluff out if his/her/them/they belly button..

A true assault needs and should be addressed. This is childish nonsense and we deserve everything the 3rd world is going to bring to us in due time...IMHO

Its amazing how easy it is to get supposedly intelligent, free thinking, rational people to think, say and do exactly what you want them to do..

Mind you the covid hysteria nonsense taught us that and nothing seems to have changed..

Now where did I leave my pitchfork, I've a lynching to go attend to??

I was informed about the crotch grabbing thing later and that should be the end of him. However, at the time of the stage ceremony, I was saying how happy to is guy was but a litte forward with the ladies, then he grabbed and kissed the male coach too and thought, “well, maybe that’s just him being overly happy and he does it with guys and girls?”

Let’s not forget the many incidents the keeper for Argentina displayed after winning the World Cup last year… horrible manners and not becoming of a champion.

"Spanish football federation threatens legal action against star player in kiss controversy
Federation charges ‘lies’ over Women’s World Cup incident as football boss Luis Rubiales refuses to step down in sexism scandal."

“I want to clarify that, as seen in the footage, I never consented to the kiss he gave me, and, of course, I never intended to lift the president in the air,” Hermoso is quoted as saying in the English-language version of the players’ statement, which was also issued in Spanish.

Oh FFS how dumb or easily led can you be...?

I sincerely hope they push this through. her blatant lying about the event needs to be tested in court and she needs to be punished for trying to gain sympathy/money etc out of it.

Spanish media is full of pictures of sportsmen and officials full on kissing (men on women and vice versa, no 'girl on girl' stuff unfortunately ) and nothing has been said.. Because it's cultural here and no one cared!

I think you hit the nail right on the head
But I have to agree with the other post that has identified the man has no filter

When I saw that kiss on the news I had to take a good look at the whole thing to try and gain some kind of context and I thought it could go either way on him depending on how the outrage meter was trending with the other players.
It's a classic case of group think on so many levels.
Now we(the whole world) knows which way the meter was swinging and people have weighed into it and declared a position. Simply because they can

Opinions are like the proverbial. As everyone has one.
But everybody is entitled to their opinion regardless of how ridiculous or stupid it may be.

The world is going mad, but I was a little shocked at the kiss but made some cultural allowances for it.
Perhaps my judgement is off too?

See.
That's exactly why there are so many damaged people wandering around.
Her life is ruined now and she'll never be able to work at her job and make an honest living for the rest of her life.
She should seek compensation.
I wonder what the size of the payout will be

He has resigned.

I hope we all agree, there's not enough 'love' in the world.
Ironic then, a man loses his job, because of a quick celebratory kiss.

I know, I know.....It's 2023....everyone, is obliged to be offended, by everything.

I don’t think he’s resigned? Nearly all the coaching staff resigned, but Rubiales himself has instead been suspended by Fifa.

On the one hand, on a very basic level, I think it’s good that consent is major news. But on the other, it all feels charged with under-reported internal politics.

This is Rubiales’ comeuppance for not supporting the players in August last year when the captain, Irene Paredes, and Hermoso, led a private video-call asking him to consider the national team’s grievances about manager Jorge Vilda; instead, he rejected the possibility of sacking Vilda. A year later, with one kiss, and the further mistake of angering Hermoso and her allies by allegedly lying about asking first, he gave the players a second public victory.

(World’s smallest violin plays ‘Amigos Para Siempre (Friends For Life)’.)

I thought as much.
It was shaping up that he wasn't going to win this one anyway no matter how good for or supportive he may have been for the game.
Has he apologised unreservedly and pledged to spend the rest of his life defending the human rights of those of the contradictory gender and fighting oppression, margininalisation, exploitation and disenfranchisation where ever he finds it in the world.
Also to voluntarily enter a rehab program to help him understand and mend his ways.
What ever he does, he can't find God. They don't like it.
No sir, they do not like it one bit, as it represents everything and stuff of the evil that men do and which underpins every aspect of the patriarchal system that enables men to do the things that men do and everything that is wrong with the world

Maybe he can re-apply for the job again after spending some time in the sin bin as well?
But he will have to pledge a healthy portion of his salary to support the cause and start up a charity of the aggrieved peoples choice.
