lost 16710 bezel click spring - need replacement

Hi All,

I was changing the bezel insert on my 16710 and the spring went flying and I cannot find it anywhere. I usually put the watch inside a ziplock bag to pop off the bezel but I forgot to do it this time.

I took the watch to Rolex here in Tokyo and they said that it was going to be around $150 or so (assuming that an overhaul is not necessary) and it would take 4-6 weeks. I had to pass at that point.

Does anyone know where I might be able to pick up a Rolex original part for this? I am in Tokyo but will also be in Singapore early next month if anyone happens to know a service shop that can just sell me the part.

Probably have lots of them...................hidden somewhere in those carpet fibers. That's where I tend to find missing parts.

Esslinger, as Triplock says. I buy several at a time, and the NY RSC hasn't complained when I send my 16710 in for service. P/N 317-16628 is the current part for the 16710 bezel click spring, replacing the early shorter spring.

Thanks guys. I checked with an independent watchmaker who has serviced my watch previously and they said that they don't have a parts account and can't get the original Rolex part but can get a compatible part. They won't just sell me the part though, and would only do as part of a full service.

It has been 8 years since I had this watch serviced (it was almost 15 before I had it serviced the first time). Their service is relatively inexpensive (around $250, or perhaps less considering how weak the JPY is right now).

So, now I am debating whether just to buy the part separately, or to go ahead and have it serviced since it is probably about the time to do that anyway. If I do have it serviced, then debating about whether to have this independent do it, or to just take it to Rolex and have them service it. This watch is now 21 years old, but is still in great shape. At this age, do you think Rolex will try to do something stupid like replace the dial or hands?

Rolex doesn't usually do any work until you agree to it and agree to pay for the service as estimated, and any required extra parts up-front.
