Rolex Submariner 14060M advice

Hi all,

I'm new to the forum and I'm looking for advice on a potential purchase. I'm looking at a Sub, asking price around 9k, I think it has been polished. The question is, does it look legit and does it seem to be a fair price?
I tried to post the same question yesterday, but it did not appear for some reason? Any thoughts would be most appreciated.

Seems very polished, and if you have an authenticity question you get one for that price with box and papers from Watchfinder. https://www.watchfinder.co.uk/Rolex/...35/item/264088

Hi,
I think it does look quite polished. Will that detract from the value? 9K was USD price by the way. I’m based in Japan, so if buying overseas, I would have to factor in import duty as well.
Maybe it is better to keep looking?

Thanks

A little hard to tell with the over-exposed pictures but it's been polished. Easiest way to see it is around the case holes which are rounded a little (and would have left the factory flush). You'd want to see the coronet on the clasp as well. Fine example but at $9k US it should be a full set and in this shape or better. BTW, if it is an M, production date should fall within 2000-2004ish window as it's still got the flat 4 (which I really like but others are mixed on). If it were me, I'd use Chrono24 and set the search to Japan and be patient... lots of these out there and best to look at MANY before you buy.

It cannot be a M serial as they have engraved rehaute.

rolex sub

Would only buy with card/papers. Seems high at 9k as prices have gone down substantially.

The 14060 is also a pretty rare watch in the fake world. I don't think they were ever mass produced. If they are out there, I think they're generally built using a fake 16610 as a base so the bezel insert has different dimensions, etc. Get some pics of the engravings and movement and even get them to measure the insert if possible. Looks pretty good to me though. 2-Liner was my first Rolex, bought out of the window of an AD, when there was no madness, ~15yrs ago.

I don't think you are correct. Ms were produced from 2000 through 2007 without an engraved rehaute with a two line dial. In 2008 they were submitted for certification and started using a 4 line dial and in later cases an engraved rehaute. Dial looks correct to me (it would have been "Swiss Made"). I believe the M cases also had holes the whole run - even later with 4 lines of text and an engraved rehaute - I know they never had solid end links.

To answer your original question regarding price - no, $9000 for the piece shown is not a fair price. It is way too high, especially for this one as it appears to have been heavily polished.

If you want good advice, post good pictures. If you can't tell that it's legit, you're not ready to buy.

People are confusing M Serial with 14060"M" -- watch above is not M Serial.

Import duty is very cheap for watches in Japan. I looked into it, call one of the numbers below, they were pretty helpful.

I think there is a miscommunication. 14060s were produced in the 1990s. The model switched to a 14060M in the 2000s (M standing for Modified because they switched movements). In that 10 year window, there were also M serial numbers which were produced in the '07-'08 window. Those M serial numbers probably had an engraved rehaute but not all 14060Ms did.

It looks lovely, it doesn't look over polished at all!?: The bezel knurls are all nice and sharp, the lugs have a nice chamfer and the crown guards have a nice shape, the crown splines have perfect definition and from what I can see, the bracelet has little to zero stretch.
This is a watch in top condtion. I'd be happy with that watch myself.

I'm looking at the watch in the 1st post, what watch are you all looking at?

I agree that it's a nice example of the watch but the one pic that made me pause and think polished was the third picture showing the lug hole at the 2 o'clock position. The hole looks a little depressed and rounded and would have left the factory more flush like the lug holes on the non-crown side.
