Help I.D My First Rolex

Hello,

My father handed me down a Rolex Datejust as a family heirloom. I am greatly excited as this watch has immense, sentimental value.

My father purchased the watch from Rolex in the States and currently has the paperwork associated with the watch, however, I thought it wouldn't hurt to ask the members of this forums for specifics (model, specs) and any details on servicing my Datejust.

The watch hasn't been serviced since purchased, however, the watch runs extremely well except for cosmetic scratches and a chip on the crystal. I am planning on servicing the watch at an authorized Rolex Service Center, but am wary of servicing the watch anywhere other than a Rolex service center in the States. I wonder if my skepticism servicing the watch at a Rolex Service Center in other countries is valid.

Excuse the long read, let's move on to some photos! :)

Very nice heirloom.

The numbers and data for your watch are found on the sides, under the bracelet ends.

If it has not been modified, it's a Datejust 16233, silver/diamond dial, and 20 to 30 years old. The paperwork and stamped numbers will confirm the actual details. Enjoy it.

You can remove the bracelet from the 12 o'clock side of the watch to view your model number. You can also remove the bracelet from the 6 o'clock side of the watch to view your serial number. Hope this helps!

If you are located in Los Angeles, LA Watchworks (LAWW) in Pasadena is highly recommended on this forum. I have never used them but plan to in the near future.
