New Incoming — YG DD40!

Hey folks — I’ve been a long-time lurker on the forum (hence this being my first post). I was very recently allocated an incredible timepiece by my AD in California: a YG DD40, with a champagne dial and baguette diamond indices. I’d been dreaming about a YG DD40 for the past year or so, and had indicated my interest at two local ADs. I thought a champagne dial with sticks would be the best fit for me; but when the baguette diamond dial arrived, it was meant to be. I mean…wow...

I was quite worried that YG + champagne (+ diamonds, ultimately), would be a bit too much for me, but it all works together so harmoniously, it’s really amazing. And I was ready for this watch. Even my wife, who based on pictures and the online Rolex configurator, said “she’d never be seen in public with me wearing that watch”, was floored when she saw it in person. Her literal quote was, “Ok, I admit, that actually looks really, really good.”

I’ve taken many pics since acquiring the timepiece, and will post a few as soon as I hit the 10-post threshold (as someone who’s worked in software my entire career, I find it amazing that forums haven’t moved past vbulletin for the past two decades…there’s a company to be built there :)

A few quick, final thoughts:

- I’ve been wearing the watch non-stop for the past few days. I’m really enjoying it that much, and it’s surprisingly wearable…for me, at least :)

- The bracelet on this watch is incredible. I’d read about it, and watched videos about it, and tried it on, but owning it and wearing it 24/7 is another thing entirely. I had two links removed for my ~7 inch wrist

- I find myself looking at the watch to admire how beautiful it is more often than I look at it to actually check the time

- As a long-time Patek and Lange collector, I’m somehow becoming a Rolex convert. The only two Rolexes I own are a Sub41 and my new DD40, but I know they’re going to get the bulk of my wrist time (it may be time to sell one or two Patek/Lange references before the market contracts more?). Wearability is just on a different level, and I say this as an owner of Patek sport models

- Finally, like many others on this forum, this watch arrived very close to my 40th birthday. Perfect timing

Anyways, thank you all for the advice and guidance I absorbed behind the scenes on my path to this incredible acquisition, and pics to come soon!
