A case makes the phone too big. So I don’t use one. I am careful with my stuff. But $1200 for a phone is really not a consideration for me in terms of cost. I am not sure about the environmental aspects. I give my phone every year to my assistant and she gets me a new one. I am not sure what she does with it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Could not agree more. When I was a kid, Rolex was unobtainable, not even in my wildest dreams did I ever think I’d have one. Today, the ‘easy credit’ youth can easily afford one. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I wear my Sub or Explorer (39) pretty much everyday since I got them this year. I do not baby them, but I also dont go out of my way to abuse them - I treat them well, but these are tough tool watches and I’d let the go if they didnt hold up - which millions of rolex owners have proven that they WILL hold up. The only place I dont wear my rolexes is to the gym, as I wear a G-Shock there because I KNOW that I regularly bash my wrists into weights/etc.

I am of the opinion that if you cant stand a scratch or a nick you should not own or wear it. You have one life to live, its just a watch, enjoy it, have it polished ever 7-10 years and you have a near new watch again. Life must not be much fun for those who have this type of OCD.

Another valuable (rant) post....
Again, not sure why we have to treat people who like to look after their watches any differently than those who are ok scratching them up - each to their own. |

We laugh, but this was a thing back in the old days. So much so that modern replicas are being produced.
http://https://www.rwatchco.com/prod...e-frogman-22mm I own one. (Came on a watch I bought). It’s interesting, but bulky in practice. Useful if you’re trying to mitigate glare I suppose. |

Peter, All I can say is a lot of us have thought the same things that are included in your post. I often wonder why on earth did they even buy a watch they were afraid to wear?

Wait wait…. we are supposed to actually WEAR these things?! I thought we just watched YouTube, identified the hyped models that would cause everyone to fawn over me if I wore it, wait for a year plus and receive a call to spend thousands. Now that I did all of those things I now need to actually wear it? But what about my plan to sell my flawless GMT someday so I can pay for my private island and retire?

I don't know why OP even bothers to post here if he has such derision for everyone and everything on the forum...just an old man yelling at clouds who can't even use basic punctuation correctly. Week in, week out it's nothing but the same snotty, elitist posts. "Back in my day..." Cool story gramps, nobody cares.

I wear my watches most of the time, but I take them off when doing labor with heavy sharp tools or when using machinery which has heavy vibration.

I wear a Rainbow Daytona pouring cement and wielding a sledge hammer. So far so good. The other guys on my street crew always make fun of me for my colorful watch.

I got some cement on the meteorite dial of my white gold gmt master 2. I must of had the case back come off and movement not completely screwed down due to the vibrations from the sledge hammer. Anyways. Cement is basically the same color as meteorite so I’m good to go. I didn’t even bother to get it serviced. I just super glued the Caseback back on after I found it inside a manhole. Because I am too busy to screw it down and I don’t have a case back tool. We were doing maintenance on some steam pipes in midtown.

Spot on Peter. I find myself shaking my head at these types. When I see their OCD going into overdrive, I post one of my favorite wrist shots to push them over the edge.
Those threads are also why I spend most of my watch time online at a smaller forum and am trying to revive another forum that’s basically a ghost town right now.

Do that with a full gold Rolex and I might be suitable impressed with the nonchalance. With the explorer I would wear that sharpening my lawn mower. that’s not enough to trigger my ocd. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Is It Safe To Take Rolex Out Of Box To Wear Outside.

The Exp II got muddy and cleaned up just fine. How about changing out my dishwasher while wearing my AP Royal Oak? I heard a few metal on metal bangs while working under it and then realized what I was wearing. Got a small ding, but that was fixed at service. I don’t intentionally abuse any watch but I also don’t baby any watch. Service centers can fix just about anything, so just wear them.

It’s funny you mentioned dishwasher. It always seems to me that I’m more likely to scratch my watch when emptying the dishwasher or doing something stupid like that around the house. If I’m outside in the yard gardening, weeding, or digging a trench, it always seems I have to go out of my way to scratch it. But I have to confess, I wear a G-Shock when I clean my garage or do something like that. I also wear my Apple Watch when I work out or ride my bike. The other confession I have to make is that I just don’t do that much that puts my watches at risk. LOL! I could generally wear my watches all the time and they look as good as new. I'd love to see the clothes you wear, are they full of holes and tears? Shoes all scuffed up? House run down? Car all beat to crap? Bravo to you!
