What’s the link between health, drinking and wearing a watch?

I’m intrigued to understand the link between watches, and “having a drink”, or “wearing in good health”. I hear these phrases only from watch folk. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good rum or whisky, and would never wish anyone anything other than good health, but to me it’s an odd pairing. Other than being nice or polite, what’s it all about?

Hears to everyone’s health!

I think a lot of watch people enjoy the finer things in life such as good spirits. And none of us want to die. At least not yet, anyway.

Most watch wearers who post here are relatively intelligent and affluent. Both characteristics are correlated with exercise and health. I think a lot of posters here enjoy alcohol in quality over quantity. Take a look at the wine, bourbon, cigars and other similar threads and you’ll see some pretty impressive selections. I don’t think you’ll find a lot of folks here who consume alcohol excessively on a regular basis, they are smarter than that. And, like me, probably too old to be able to properly function with a hangover any more.

I can't think of anything nicer to say to a fellow watch enthusiast than "Wear it in good health".

I agree, it is a very nice thing to say. Health is truly the most important thing.
