Starwheel Availability
Is it true that the Starwheel is even harder to be allocated than the Jumbo and Openworked? Heard rumours that Starwheel is mainly for VIPs.

I hear it's very difficult to get. It's on my wishlist this year, so hoping I get lucky.

Very interesting that being a Code, the Starwheel is harder to achieve than the Jumbo and Openworked. Given that the CODE QP, though difficult, is not even as hot.

Jumbos are obviously highly desired, but they typically only go to clients who are at a very specific step in their journey. Probably around the 4-5th watch phase. For those below that, they are not qualified yet for a jumbo but might want to start out their AP journey by getting a code. And the starwheel is universally accepted as one of the best Codes to date so demand is high. For those that already have a jumbo, perhaps they have tons of hot pieces already but never had a code. This might be the first code that interests them so demand is high for these collectors too and they have higher priority So what does that mean? Basically everyone (except one and done RO collectors) at every step of the AP journey wants a starwheel. Supply is extremely low so clearly demand will far exceed supply. As for the QP, I think there a few factors as well: 1) while it’s probably the best launch model from the code lineup, the fact that it got associated with the other ridiculed launch models like the 3 handers and chronos had a negative impact if the entire code lineup for many years. 2) related: due to it being a launch model, people nitpicked everything. While the QP doesnt inexplicably use 3 fonts like the 3 handers, many people didn’t like the crown sitting so low on the case side. kinda made people associate the code as an afterthought since AP put a modular movement that clearly wasn’t designed for the code case 3) pricing: $106k current pricing is a lot of money in general. I believe it launched at $75k range too Anyway, while the QP is nice, it didn’t really introduce anything particularly unique besides the adventurine dial. However, the starwheel has the adventurine dial too and has a unique complication that we haven’t see from AP since the original & millenary lines. Very unique piece with a ceramic mid case. Reasonably priced under $60k too |

I think 2024 will bring about even more variations of the Code 11.59. |

So you think the Starwheel will be having the same "undesirable" fate as the QP if it were to be released together with the QP at the same time? |

I put both an openwork and the starwheel on my interest list. I have a strong feeling I’ll be getting the openwork first. That speaks to the difficulty of getting a starwheel.

Really? Wow! I knew the Starwheel was not easy, but didn't imagine it would be harder than an Openworked. I guess my wait will be longer than I anticipated..

My request for openwork was followed by an optimistic nod by the SA. As for the starwheel, all I got was a sigh, followed by biting of the lip and a shake of the head. This is just my experience, so take it at face value all! I sincerely love love love the starwheel, and feel it’s symbolic of AP in this current era. 1. It’s a Code 2. Uses an old ‘complication’ but modernize 3. Looks insane and there’s NO other watch out there that looks like the starwheel/ comparable to it. |

As wednesday is pick up day for my starwheel, I was playing with some pics. Funny how the starwheel appears to wear smaller than the QP.

There may be rumors about it being mainly for VIPs, it ultimately depends on availability and the specific policies of each retailer.

Seriously? I knew it was rare but didn't know was for VIPs. If that's really the case, then it's much much harder to obtain than the Jumbo.

Yeah I never knew it was for VIPs only. makes sense tbh as there’s less than a couple for sale in the secondary market.
