This is fake news, I talked to 2 collectors last week, one from Italy, one from Germany. They are ready to buy, have requested and have the purchase history. But no Star Wheels are coming through. If this would be right, prices would be lower on the market also. |

Haha it’s still a good watch… that should have been my main takeaway. But i personally overhyped it myself for the last year. And I probably would have taken this over the jumbo. But seeing it in the flesh, and knowing that it’s highly desired by many others, I don’t mind taking my name out of the hat and requesting another piece.
If you asked me yesterday, I would have easily said the starwheel was the best code made (out of all the “entry” level codes and not the crazy complicated pieces), but imo I think that margin may have slimmed dramatically. I think the ss code chronos and the QP are still up there with the starwheel as best of the lineup. Congrats on your pick up though :) |

To me, it’s better irl than on pictures. Very hard watch to catch as it really is. Here is a photo with more sunlight.
I really don’t get a cheap feeling of the discs in any way. It is all a personal thing, I guess. |

I think the starwheel is a perfect watch. It’s ashame that production is very limited and demand is very high, otherwise lots of people would buy it. I have a cousin who owns 9 APs between him and his wife, and his boutique wouldn’t put him down for the starwheel because he doesn’t own a code and other bigger clients are prioritized.

There are twice as many blue ceramic RO QPs listed on C24 than Code Starwheels. I would be very surprised if they had difficulties shifting the few pieces every boutique gets per year.

HK and eastern markets could be completely different than western markets. It would surprise me that the starwheel isn't selling there, but I don't find it unfathomable .
The piece is extremely limited, and of the pool of qualified buyers in HK, there could be a common sentiment that it's not something they would like long-term. Unlikely, but possible. Value wise it isn't worth the flip to their AP relationship (for most qualified buyers a ~15-20k profit after fees and taxes isn't much at all *see apjourneyfail). There's no doubt a plethora of unqualified buyers ready to jump at meager profits, but maybe AP HK is doing some good due diligence on the limited number of starwheels they receive.

I wouldn't flip and would jump at the chance.

My impression
As someone that primarily wears integrated bracelets, the Starwheel did definitely impress me in real life. Especially the aventurine dial and polished surfaces of the wheel "rims" and bezel, the watch really does shine. The Code has evolved and improved over the years and with the latest releases, evident of a more cohesive and thoughtful style. I was fortunate to be allocated one but it did require seeing in person as it is truly greater than the sum of its individual parts.
