Absolutely smitten on one hand & also underwhelmed

Went to resize my wife's new datejust and just mentioned to my AD that I was flirting with getting a gold daydate for the wife with the green ombre dial and diamond Bezel and possibly looking for a ghost for myself at some point.....well he just happened to have both, actually he even had the green ombre daydate with the full diamond bracelet as well....

Wife tried on the daydate and it was absolutely stunning, the dial, Bezel, bracelet the works...will have to start saving up...

However when it came to the ghost wife and I were left very much underwhelmed, possibly the white gold is a little too understated for my personal tastes and I much prefer my daytona two tone although I know saying this will be sacrilegious on here....wanted to try a gold OF but none in stock to try....so I am still on the hunt for that one heavy hitting piece

I told my wife that she could have any watch in the Rolex catalog as a present from me for our 25th wedding anniversary. She picked the DD 36mm Green Ombré with the diamond bezel. It’s a fantastic watch.

I’ll never understand the appeal of buying a gold watch (or any watch) with a rubber strap over bracelet. I can make sense if someone wants to swap out for summer or whatever, but hard for me personally to wrap my head around that concept from the onset.

Both available for the right client.....just bought my daytona two tone and wife's datejust this month so watch shopping is on hold at the moment

If I had the funds would have bought the daydate in a heartbeat

Couldn't agree more, absolutely stunning....funnily enough the same watch with the full diamond bracelet (that was in a glass case) seemed a little too much or maybe adding that extra 50k or so made it less appealing

If there is a ghost at your AD they should really handle that before inviting customers in. I can see why you were underwhelmed at their services having you all in there with a ghost doing its thing.

Congrats on the DD I’m sure the wife is very delighted.

When I tried on the Daytona on OF I was a bit lukewarm but after having it for a few months it’s great.

I would typically prefer a bracelet but I don’t like the non ceramic gold bezels.

That green watch is amazing. A lot of guys love that Daytona but not for me. My close friend has bought it twice, once very recently and it didn’t last two weeks
If she’s getting something like that you should too. Maybe they can get you a YG green dd40? Or whatever you like.. Try everything on, you’ll know which one you want when it’s in your wrist. It might not be what you expect..
Hope you guys have fun with the purchases

Yeah, with a big price tag. If you have to buy your wife expensive gifts to make her happy, then real love has nothing to do with it.

I felt the same way regarding the Ghost, which is why the RG with the Sundust dial was at the top of my wish list. A little more color than WG, but not as much as YG. For me, it is just right. I was lucky enough to have my AD allocate it to me a few weeks ago.

I have no interest in a Daytona on a full gold bracelet as I just don't like the gold bezel. They are scratch magnets as I had a TT Daytona and just looking at the bezel would cause it to scratch. I also like the contrast of the bezel, back sub dials and the OF strap.

I differ in my opinion. I think the WG OF Daytona is an awesome watch. it is very sporty and yet is WG. I prefer my watches to be under the radar than bright and blingy. I did add a DD40 with silver baton dial so I do have a little bling and it is considered a quintessential Rolex by most. I have the TT Daytona and love that watch too, especially because my wife presented it to me on my wedding day.

Many thanks, i truly did get very, very, verrrry lucky with my wife. We really do make a team, together, and together we're both 'better' for it. Hope that makes sense, as it really is a special, and rare, thing.

Plus when she smiles that smile, she doesn't just glow, she radiates. It's a beautiful thing to step back and appreciate those memorable moments. At this point in my life, my goal is to "collect" as many happy moments as possible.

If I'm being honest, on that tray, your TT white daytona (or "Golden Panda"-- you heard it here folks) is absolutely stunning and easily the nicest of the bunch.

Nothing better than a happy marriage. I’ve been blessed to have two. Making each other smile and laugh is the best. So, kudos to you and your wife.

Agree on your combination being stunning, although I'm judging behind a glass case. Store had 9 Daytonas in sets of 3 behind glass....liked all the TT especially the champagne dial but my favorite was your combination in the OF selection....thought all the fully PM bracelet Daytonas were a bit too much for my personal tastes if I'm being honest, but it shows how tastes can differ as I loved the full PM on the daydate but again that would be for the wife, don't know if I could manage that much bling personally....well maybe platinum

Honestly, the Ghost is by far one of the most readable and legible watches they have. I have one and it's so easy to read the time, if you're into that sorta thing.

A rolex on tires material is anything but a "heavy hitter". Go for full PM.

On the ghost, I totally agree. They are making so many incredible Daytona watches right now, but I do not feel this is one.
On the day-date, I totally agree. That watch has struck me as stunning ever since I first saw it. In fact, it is my favorite of that entire line.

Couldn't agree more. Its a awful lot of money to spend on something with a rubber strap and it would never be something that I'd do, but I know we are different thankfully

Thats funny, because I think that white gold Daytona is far, far nicer than that gaudy looking DayDate.

Sounds like you got really lucky and that's rare nowadays. It's not often you see couples that last a long time together in these times and are truly enjoying each other's company genuinely. Kudos to those that their relationship is real, open and honest.
