Cartier- advice for buying
I’ve been looking on the for sale forum for a while, trying to find a Cartier tank franchise (men’s large). It seems they never come up in the secondary market.
So now my choices are to either buy a new one from the Cartier boutique or from an authorized Cartier dealer. For anyone who has experience purchasing a Cartier can I expect to negotiate on the price at all at either retailer? |

Nothing from the boutique. About a year ago my husband got 1O% off a TT Santos from our AD. It took some phone calls but the AD agreed. Last week I purchased a SS large Santos and a mid size SS Santos with a diamond bezel. I was able to get 5% off on the mid size with diamonds but nothing off on the large SS Santos. It took a lot of persuasion and reminding them of our extensive purchase history. Even if you check gray dealers the discounts are very very small and I don’t think you get the extended 8 year warranty. Trusted sellers here often have few year old Cartiers selling at MSRP.

I agree with Michelle, not a lot of room at the moment.
My advice would be to try to take advantage of visiting AD's when traveling. Ask for a reasonable discount and ask if they ship to potentially avoid sales tax. When they refuse a discount, just say "OK, I understand, I'll just buy locally when I get home". You will become a something or nothing sale for them since they know you aren't coming back. They also know you won't be bugging them if anything goes wrong with the watch. If it's a slow day and they have plenty of inventory, they may bite at a 10% and no tax discount. |

I buy from my boutique and no discounts. Asked my AD and they said no discounts either.

Our Trusted Sellers always have a few for sell. Decide what you want and find it. Get on the phone and call and work your best deal. Cool watches.

I bought a Santos from an AD in Rome on vacation. Small discount, VAT refund. Ended up close to “market price” in the US, but the new DLC blue was hard to find at the time, so I enjoyed lucking into one. They’re pretty inexpensive, compared to others, so I’d say just go buy new. |
