Selling Protocols: written and unwritten

Greetings all.

I have posted watches for sale in the past with a lot of success... running into scam artists.
On the flip, because I have had little success selling here (I am mostly trading in person with people I know or in dealer networks), anyone who MIGHT be a legitimate buyer thinks I am full of s**t.

Is there a post that breaks down how to sniff out someone trying to run a scam AND maybe some guidance on proper selling etiquette?

A couple examples of what I am talking about--

I just received a PM from a "buyer" who's has been "looking for this watch for a long time": zero posts and a join date of May 2024. Of course, there's an email to take the convo off campus.
This very well might be a real buyer; likely not.

I was once castigated for sharing a dropbox link with additional photos and videos of a watch cause the link could be nefarious.

It's clear the newly joined, zero post-person is not a serious buyer but the weblink blunder, without knowing, made me look like someone who's not a serious seller.

Any insight would be most appreciated.

I guess there's no way to really win on here unless you've been a member since the 1900s.
