Rolex Deepsea size vs. Omega SM Chronograph

Hi

I have a couple large watches, Breitling Avenger Seawolf on Rubber with deployant (44 mm wide, 55 lug to lug, 18 + mm thick, I believe 18.5) and Omega Seamaster Chronogaph (on bracelet) (52.5 lug to lug and 17.5 mm thick and 44 mm wide and about 2200 grams with one or two links removed

I have a wide flat wrist but only 7.25 to a little under 7.5 inch wrist.

I have tried the sea dweller 43 and was suprised at how normal it looked and felt. Significantly smaller than the above mentioned watches. I have a couple 42 mm watches as well and love all my watches. I tried on the 41 sub and while it was much smaller than Im used to it didnt feel too small like the 42 mm explorer. AD didnt have any of these to actually buy.

I wasnt able to try on a deepsea as they didnt have one to try, anyone have or tried on seawolf or sm chrono and can tell me the fit and feel in comparison to the deepsea ?

I can help you out with this. Both my POC and DSSD JC wore identical but I will give the edge to the Omega in slightly more comfortable as its sapphire case back was a bit flatter spreading the weight out better. You will also notice the dial to bezel ratio is larger on the Omega giving it a larger dial and more balanced look.

Omegas dive watch designs were designed to be larger in that 42mm and up size from the very beginning. Rolex designs are more 40mm and under in their origination. It’s not that Rolex doesn’t make a good 40mm+ watch but clearly their designs stem from 40mm and under and they basically super sized that sub 40mm design.

FYI. I have owned both SD43 and DSSD JC.

Ok thanks. I have the seamaster chronograph not the planet ocean chronograph...but that helps alot. The planet ocean seems to dwarf the deepsea. The planet ocean was my grail but I never see at any ads or boutique. Thanks again

With your wrist size you can wear any of them. My wrist size is a flat 7” and I daily a PO creamsicle in the summer and find its flat case back extremely comfortable for a large extreme dive watch. I like Panerai and Omega for my larger watches as that is their design forte.
That said it will never be as comfortable as my Daytona Panda or BLNR on Jubilee.

Is that the 43 or 45 mm version tried 43 and was way smaller and more comfortable than I expected . No 45 to try . Did try ultra deep but it was on nato that looked and felt cheap. Thanks for the Pic and info

If you are referring to his orange creamsicle, it is 43.5mm.

^^Yup. Planet Ocean Creamsicle 43.5mm with the cal.8900 inside.

The Planet Ocean Chronograph is 45.5. It’s a bit more bulky as it is thicker but still very comfortable for its size. I also owned the gen 1 45mm PO and that wasn’t as comfortable as the larger POC 45.5 simply because the sapphire case back is flatter and smooth against your skin.

I highly recommend the 43.5 PO as it’s a very comfortable extreme level dive watch with an outstanding movement inside. A lot of top shelf and unique features for its price point.

From an owners perspective of this particular Creamsicle: It’s a very flashy bright high quality feeling watch without “Rolex” on the dial that gets a ton of compliments from every demographic. That is its charm to me as its personality is so different than any Rolex yet has a cool factor as a big summer dive watch without looking like it’s trying too hard.
