patent leather shoes with tuxedo???

is this still a must?? or can i just wear a nice pair of dress shoes??

It never was a must............ Proper footwear with a Tux are satin slippers that match the satin of the collar and pant stripe......

But I have never worn either and I go to several formal functions annually...

Good quality shoes, buffed and clean are just fine in todays world...

Doc Martens are out, as are anything with fish names like Bass, etc, or Nikes, black or otherwise...........

I usually wear nice black Cole Haan lace up dress shoes with a tux.

Of course, I also wear a Rolex, which is the real 'MUST' with a tux !

I don't know if I would go cap toe. Highly shined, plain black oxfords would do, as well as patent leather, but the truly correct footwear are satin slip-ons.
