is this true about dial change in uk

an AD told me today that if rolex change a dial on a watch due to service or swapping to different dial in range that if you request the "old" dial back they give you it.
he says you (or AD) have to request it back and due to you being charged for a new dial then they have to send the "old" one back.
i was under the impression they didnt??

he also said that rolex in france can destroy a watch if found to be a copy and there is nothing the owner can do. is this true?

what did make me laugh was that he told me the daytona blue arabic (which i had on my wrist and was bout from 300 yrds away from his shop) was not yet available in the uk

I can't speak to other countries..
In the US, they replace dials on an exchange basis, so, no, you do not get your old one back.

Also in the US, they will not keep your replica if you demand it back..but they can, under law, remove any trademark markings to include Rolex wording or the Crown symbol any where on the suface. However, US Customs, on import, can keep any counterfeit and destroy it.

he told me a tale that he sent a gold diamond president day/date to rolex and they discovered the watch had fake markers and fake stamps on the bracelet and wrong case etc
they had to ask the owners permision to remove the marks/stamps and he refused so they sent it back to him.

i find the french part of his statement interesting but cant find anything on the web about it

I'd expect to be able to get the old dial back, though I believe you do have to ask for it.

Europe is different to the USA in this respect. At the end of the day you bought the dial and you are buying the replacement so it remains your property.

In the US the price you pay for a new dial is at trade-in value, meaning we probably pay less for a new dial than the people in the UK? I'm just assuming, I really don't know.

I think the USA is more paranoid about protecting the brand, because the old dial could be used on a fake watch, to make the buyer believe it's all genuine.

Either way, I don't really care about getting the old dial back, I have enough junk in my house...

Re the thing about France, I read that Louis Vuitton (I think) and one other brand recently won a £20M law suit against Ebay France for allowing the sale of counterfeits of their products. So I would guess that this could be trule

IF you are exchanging dial in the same range it is free and rolex keep it providing it is within the first few months. If it is an older watch they will want you to service it.. If however you are paying for completely new dial, you can keep the dial. I done this on my WG daytona and kept the original dial. Rolex had the cheek to keep the red hands, there justification was that I had to pay a £150 for red hands to get them back. So off course I then paid for red hands.
