Problematic OrphanRolex Sub
New to this forum.
I have an older Submariner, bought in 1981. A decade or so after I bought it, started having problems, stopping intermittently. It was serviced once in the Rolex center in Germany (Frankfurt, I believe) when I was stationed there, and twice in Houston. Each invoice mentioned the"balance staff" as being replaced. Anywhere from 1-5 years after servicing, the same stoppages, lather rinse repeat. The last servicing was in 2012, and it stopped in 2017. I can get it to run, keeps time, then it stops intermittently, too unreliable to use. I have been told this is a orphan model that is no longer factory serviced. So....if anyone has ideas about a magic gnome out there that fixes obsolete Rolexes, I am ready to cut bait and put her up for sale as salvage. Opinions welcome. I know guys who got their Rolexes in Vietnam, and were still running unserviced after decades when they were passed onto their kids. |
