Remaster02

Now that the dust has settled a bit, what does everything think about it? As the owner and lover of the Remaster01. I am strongly considering the 02.

Pics I've found in different places on IG/online to capture it... appreciate thoughts.

I love it and I am sad I didn't push harder to buy it.

I think the size is quite the issue for some people though.

Not to throw shade but the remaster 01 seemed like a fake patina fake old watch. This 02 really seems like an old design mastered again.

I've tried it on couple of months ago. Totally in love with it. Expressed my interest but doubt I'll be allocated.

Tried it on, really liked it (big fan of sand gold) but don’t think I can pull it off style wise, so didn’t ask for one.

But I hope they sell well as I’d love to see more from their back catalog in the future.

I appreciate the design but it is not for me. Too expensive for what it is and don't know if I could work it into a rotation for significant wear. I also think that you would have to try this one on as the size and fit will not work for everyone.

To me it's a joke of a watch.

Nice that they released something for the archives (kudos) but the size is way too large for a classic watch. Add to that the pricing is beyond outrageous for a basic two-hander

At the risk of sounding bias since I really like the watch:

Remaster02 = 41,100 CHF; sand gold (similar to Lange Honey gold), three hander with ultra thin movement and special sapphire glass and 12 part dial. To be honest you don't want a date or a 3rd hand even though the movement can support both:

Compared to:

Patek 5226G Calatrava - with 3 hander and date; stamped dial = 35,400 CHF
Patek 6700G - Calatrava with 3 hander and date ; stamped dial = 33,300 CHF
Patek 5227R - Calatrava with 3 hander and date; stamped dial = 35,400 CHF
Patek Aquanaut precious metals 5168G ; stamped dial= 43,200 CHF

So compared to Calatravas perhaps about 20% overpriced. Compared to Aquanaut the price is fine?

I really like it. Hope AP draws more inspiration from its back catalogue (Jules Audemars would be great to refresh as well).

Still think it is a cool watch. But I would not bet on me (or anyone else for that matter) continuing to think it is a cool watch some 5 years down the road. As it is not only cool but also way out there and weird which may take over at some point.

Very cool watch. Would buy if I was wearing suits and driving a Rolls-Royce.

I got to try one on when I was in Le Brassus couple of weeks ago. It's a cool piece for sure, but not for me.

Tried it on a few months ago. Dial and crystal are super interesting, not to mention the sand gold. Strap is also very well executed

But the size is way too big for most (see below, I usually wear a 26420.IO FYI) They really messed up on the lugs IMO and should’ve either 1) shrank the entire watch 2) remove the lugs and have the strap integrated with the case

Indeed, I am concerned over the size. I think -2mm would have been perfect. Just like my gripe with the Remaster01 was if they had made it manual wind and made it 2mm thinner it would have been perfection for me.

Also a shame to make the watch so thick with such a thin movement

Very cool - when pictured by itself.

Out of place, on every wrist I have seen it (in pics only - never saw one IRL). Both size and shape to blame.

I still need to see it in person before deciding. From pictures, I kind of like it. It’s much different looking from the other AP collections.

WHEN WILL AP LEARN A REMASTER DOESN'T MEAN MAKE IT 5000MM BIG!!!! I really want to love this watch, the same with the REMASTER01. They're too big, are their milling machines stuck on wumbo?

It is definitely different.
Looks like an '80s case design for a calculator watch from a distance.

Could have used a quartz movement to complete that vibe.

Seeing it next to the Zeitwerk lumen puts into perspective just how big it is!
Any ideas why it’s so big? There’s no crazy complication or anything like the zeitwerk

Really great watch, but way too big (especially when compared to the original). I think a size between what they chose and the OG would have looked better.

Some things are meant to stay buried in the archives, never to be found again. This design is definitely one of them. Was it even a successful model in the first place to deserve a remaster? I highly doubt so. AP seems to be on some roll to make big dress watches, as if they believe they are relevant enough to change fashion trends. Why don't they take a look at IWC sales for a moment, they would realize big dress watches have not been a thing for quite some time. For that kind of money, I would buy an independent dress watch any day of the week before this. The new PF Toric for similar money looks so much better from top to bottom next to this AP, it is not even funny.
