I don't get why it's a "slap in the face of collectors" for him to sell off an ugly piece, of which only one was made. No collector I know said, "Gee I wish they'd made more of those," or, "Gee I would have loved to have been able to buy one of those."

To me it's more of a slap in the face to good taste in general that it was even designed by/for him . . . but IMHO TB12's taste is fairly typical of "new money bros."

AP’s sales model is subscription based. Where long term loyalty is implied when being allocated watches.

If not everyone will be flipping their watches within weeks of getting them, without repurcussion.

I get that it’s his watch to do what he wants, but there should have been already an agreement in place here.

Very weird all around

As the owner of a unique piece to my own design I cannot fathom why one would sell it, I would be selling a kidney before I sell mine irrespective of any financial plight or other disaster I might face. Assuming he did design it (and therefore one assumes likes it, irrespective of the views of anyone else who has full use of their eyes), and he certainly doesn’t need the money so there must be more to the story.

Hope Gisele buys it, even if she wears it now and then she'll see more of the watch than she did of him.

Maybe it was Gisele's dial design and poor Tom had never really bonded with it.

Listening to Kevin O Leary interview, he was mentioning that Brady had two of these made (so it's not unique :p) and one he keeps and the other is for this auction.
Maybe if you can convince AP such an auction would bring many eyes to the brand and plus a huge result, AP would be happy to make two special additions for you.
