I love the YM 40, in particular the blue. I've had it and sold it and immediately regretted selling it; so bought it again!

I have many "sought" after pieces; 2 day dates and a rose gold YM on OF and as much as I love these my blue YM 40 is my best all arounder

The original SS/Plat Yachtmaster circa 2000 was the only Rolex model I have ever bought twice in the exact configuration. I always considered it a fancier Submariner.
Those are long gone, if I was buying a new one today it would be blue.

The YM40 is not a good watch. It's a great watch.

This is one of my favourite pieces and easily the most worn one in my entire collection. I've owned the 116622 pt dial since 2015.

What I enjoy the most is its unparalleled versatility thanks to its monochrome look, on top of the inherent qualities of any Rolex (accuracy, robustness, water resistance). I happen to love the dressy "all silver grey" appearance. The dial disappears on the wrist in most lighting conditions, but then pops out on a sunny day in a subtle shimmering way. However, its stealthy nature comes with a drawback: less contrast, thus a lower legibility at a glance.

The sunburst slate dial which replaced the pt dial in 2016 is even more eye-catching under all lighting conditions. It's a stunning piece. The only reason I don't own one is because it'd be too much overlap with mine, and I could always swap the dial at the RSC if I wanted to. The blue dial looks great too, but I already own a Bluesy to scratch that itch.

These are all damn good responses!!!
Thanks!!!!
LOL

I guess I'll have to search for one at a good price!

I do like the slate with the blue second hand!!!

I thought the yacht master was "slumming" it for the Rolex line.

I get so many compliments on my GMT Batgirl Im hoping for the same with this watch!!!

Nice watch and wears well.

Not difficult to get at the AD so I’d ask for one and wait a bit.

Great watch. I had one for a few years and sold to make room for something else. Still regret selling.
Request from your local AD's and let them know you're interested. Might be a few months wait

I can honestly say it's a fantastic watch, wears much better than the Sub and always feels special. I have probably spammed too many TRF YM40 threads with my pictures but suffice to say I love it!

lovely watch. I think this is one of the great Rolexes. easy to read, comfortable to wear, just the right size, not over complicated.

The yachtmaster was originally introduced as the premium version of the submariner. It didn't quite work out like that, but has carved a nice niche for itself.

To me the 126622 is more comfortable than a Sub. It’s case is smaller, closer to the Daytona, with a shorter clasp, while it doesn’t have glide-lock, the bracelet is very comfortable. The slate dial is beautiful, changing from medium syeel to almost black.

Really nice watch but to me it looks a little too fancy if you know what I mean? It doesn't have that rugged look of most Rolex sport models. But again, no doubt it's a beautiful watch. Just depends on what you are looking for in a sports watch.

Apart from the platinum DayDates with a platinum fluted bezel.

I took my rose gold day date off last night after wearing it for a week - great watch - and popped on my slate YM this morning, as did my fiancé who has a 37mm, love it every bit as much as the day date. I think it has a luxurious edge to it that the submariner does not. i absolutely love the curved case and its subtlety.

Fully agree with everyone’s comments, I have the 40mm slate dial and it’s absolutely fantastic, one of my all time favorites and will never leave the collection.

If you’re even just slightly interested I highly recommend it, you will be surprised by how quickly you fall for it once it’s on your wrist.

Love this reference… the 11 or 12 series since they’re visually identical and much prefer the rhodium/slate dial over the blue dial.

Definitely a lot heavier than a submariner due to the platinum bezel. I see a lot of people wearing submariners, but have yet to see someone wearing a 40mm Yachtmaster.

Why??? It seems to be going for 10%-15% premium grey market. If you live in a state with 10% sales tax - go grey and it will be basically be about the same price out the door and you'll get it tomorrow - plus you will support one of the businesses that help this site. Not one of those flim flam AD's.

I really dislike the whole market situation with the ADs and will never give them my money.
