AD discounts?

hi all,

what discounts do you normally get off for Panerai. My wife and I went to look at the Panerai, and we really like it. Before we start negotiating with the AD, I want to get an idea of savings. The only problem in Toronto, is that there is now only one AD, so not sure if there is even room for negotiation.

thanks

Glad you liked the PAMs ............... because we sure do !!!

Discounts on PAMs are usually zilch to low."Luckily" enter "economic downturn" and discounts seem to be more generously offered these days, around the world. If you dont ask,you will never get it.Good luck and let us know what you got !! We love pics of PAMs !!

It depends on many variables. AD, model, current phase of the moon and so on. There is no rule of thumb I think!

I got 15% off my Panerai purchase earlier this month. The order was placed over the phone. The AD just threw the discount out there. Maybe I should have asked for 20%?? I visited another Panerai AD up in Ohio last month and did ask about a discount. I was told "no" that time. I guess it's going to be up to the particular AD and how badly they want to sell the watch.

My experience is you're lucky to get a strap or two on a popular model.

Trying to get a discount from RDV on Bloor will be tough probably, but you never know. When AD's do not want to or can not offer a discount they will pretty much just include "free*" schwag like straps and other branded accessories. I do not know that much about Panerai but have been to that AD before and talked to other AD's trying to get the Panerai brand in stock, and they said it would be difficult to do. Anyways, you got some great tips / advice from the members above and hopefully you get what your looking for asap for a fair price

I purchased my Panerai a week ago from the AD here in Dallas. He originally offered 10% off but I was able to get him to take off 17% by the end of the transaction. The "negotiations" took about 3 weeks. The AD was also generous enough to throw in an original black alligator strap to boot!

Happy Hunting!

No discount @ tourneau

I am in the market for a Pam 88 ($7200), and tourneau NYC said they are not discounting. He said maybe he would throw in a free strap. Anyone purchase from Essential watches of beverly hills or Davinci watches?

Thanks Bobby

Here in Vancouver, BC you don't get a penny off buying a Panerai. The best I could get is to have the AD throw in a calf strap, or with an alligator strap for additional $125.

On the other hand I was able to get a PAM 005 from a Seattle dealer for 7% off when the economy was still good 2 years ago. I visited them this year and they seem eager to deal on anything they have in stock (24, 88, 90, 104, etc).

I just returned from Portland, OR where the AD only had only 1 PAM in stock - a 250 chrono I think. I do not think they are in a position to discount since their stock is low and pre-sold most of their Panerai.

I think this is a question of supply and demand.

I recently bought an Omega Seamaster at Tournaeu, KOP. They offered a 25 % discount as soon as they realized we were serious about buying this watch, if the price was right. We were in and out of the store within 30 minutes, and that included time to pay and resize the bracelet:)

Milgaussguy,

Did you check with Davidson and Licht in Valley Fair. I don't know what sort of discount they are willing to give. But it is nice to know that Palo Alto gave you 10%. I'm assuming your wife is Vietnamese :).

Cheers,

Nost

I got an offer for a 10% discount after haggling with an AD here in Chicago. I then picked up the phone and called the AD in St. Louis and he tossed out a ~12% without even being asked.

Just because there is only one AD in your area doesn't mean there is no competition. The magical magic of a telephone and a shipper can make your local AD compete with numerous ones across the land.

Hi nosttrader,

Yes, i'm Vietnamese. N U R??

We were in Hawaii last week. I checked with Tourneau (near by our hotel Westin), and they offer i 10% off.

That why i only offer 10% and a original Panerai leather strap.

If i read this forum earlier. I could save save another 5%.

What kinds of PAN do you have??

I can get you those with 15% discount. The only problem I might have is you being in canada.

I've established a relationship with a few Panerai AD and get often get 10 to 20% off depending on the model. Hot sellers and SEs rarely get discounted though.

I have to agree with you regarding Vancouver. I was looking for a 112 late last year and they wouldn't budge on the price and used the same offer of an additional strap at $100.

I relocated to Hong Kong earlier this year for work, and found that Panerai has several ADs and numerous re-sellers here.

The Panerai Boutique here will not budget on their price until you have a purchase history with them. The standard discount at other ADs are around 8%, and if they know you or you have a recommendation you will likely get 10-12% off. Essentially the final price you pay here is cheaper as we do not have any sales taxes.

As for Vancouver, I am not missing the 12% taxes at ALL!

...as far as I can make out UK AD's don't ordinarily offer discounts as supply and demand don't allow.
