My AD said that the little piece between the case and where the bracelet begins is permanent. Ca any one confirm?
In the first image below, it seems from the back that it is not welded to the case. I ask because it would be economically smarter to purchase the bracelet version and then later on get straps and swap at will. Also too bad they decided to go with this bracelet style as opposed to the other more stylish one. The stylish one costs about $3,000 alone.

Do not own a 312 but have several of the old style bracelet watches and was looking at some with the new style. My understanding is that the new bracelet is compatable with most J series watches to present non rads and does not require microadapters and can be alternated with straps. It makes a lot more sense to by the watch with the bracelet and change to straps rather than the other. The cost of the bracelet is not cheap by itself. Would be shocked if welded.

From the photos it doesn't appear to be permanent. I haven't seen one in person though. I really like that bracelet.

Not sure, but I made the mistake of buying a Panerai without the bracelet, then when I went to get it later, I almost fell over from the price.
So get the bracelet version right up front. Very easy swap to a strap.

Yep I bought the daylight and wanted to add the bracelet which was a bout 3 grand. I had not opened it and was lucky bc AD got a 236 with the bracelet so swapped it out for full refund.

The old bracelet beats the new one.The new one is just "too brushed"Love the old style bracelet in all ss.

Panerai bracelets are a bit too expensive IMO.

Good thinking though, on getting the bracelet version and then having the option of using a nice selection of straps.

I made an even larger mistake buying my wife a cartier roadster with diamond bezel and strap. I wound up buying her the bracelet later at 13k. Did not make that mistake again with her others.

Guys, remember we have not yet concluded that it is possible to buya a 312 (i.e bracelet version of 312) and then cleanly swap it to a leather bracelet. As I said earlier, my not very reliable AD said its not possible as the piece between the bracelet and case is fixed on.

Again let me clarify my understanding from several rungs up the panerai food chain, not just AD, is that from j series onward k l etc the new bracelet and straps are interchangeable having the quick release system. Would I bet my life no but they have been right so far. That is a reason why they made the new style bracelet they may be thinking the old style bracelet different story requires microadapters and may not be able to put a strap on one with the bracelet I do not know.
