IWC Ingenieur Thoughts?

I was in my jewelers store this weekend picking up my Breitling from its big service and tried this thing on. I have always been a fan of IWC watches but for some reason I thought they were much more expensive. To my surprise they stated that this watch was only $4200 (including 10% discount). I tried it on and really, really liked it, especially with the black strap (the all steel one weighs a TON). Just curious what other people on this board thought of this watch.

The IWC Ingeniuer offers a good value. IWC worked with ETA to design their new caliber which they offer as having excellent shock absorbance and toughness. It is also antimagnetic. The only reason I have hestitated personally is because I believe it might be a little large for my 7.5" wrist, but they now offer a 40mm model, so maybe I will have to try one on. Nice watch.

I have owned the IWC ingenieur for a whole year..superb watch for every day use. Thicker and bigger than any rolex even the SD. The face looked smaller than my GMT II-c face did..Great finish on the bracelet and i assume great mvt too. good value for the money and perfect for those that want a tool-watch that won't get noticed except from experts only. Comparable to the SD..
However, if I had to choose between IWC-inge and SD i would choose the second..but hey....it 's a rolex forum here

Very nice article and comparison Jocke. The pictures are superb as well. I am jealous of your photography skills.

I think the IWC is a fabulous looking watch. I love the YM but think that the IWC would be a great "tool watch".

You can't go wrong with either IMHO but I think the IWC would tolerate more rugged wear.

The Inge is comparable to the Milgauss in many ways. I love the originals of each, but the new models are stunning too.

That Inge also has IWC's new in-house movement, and the 40mm white dial has a nice display back to boot.

Jocke, how many watches have you convinced readers to purchase just by posting your pictures? That is a commendable write up comparison

While I have to admit that I sold my last IWC to buy a GMT-IIC I have always found them to be very solid watches. I would recommend them. In fact, I may buy a Big Pilot this summer; putting my $$ where my mouth is on this one.

I own an IWC Ingenieur last model (now discontinued) and I highly recommend it. I just bought the new IWC Ingenieur Mission Earth on SS and requested the rubber strap to add some variety. As soon as I get the piece I will post some pics.

tried this IWC Ingenieur (limited edition - retail £4500-ish from memory) a couple of months ago and found it too large for my not-so-large wrist. it was comfortable but bulky. loved the colours though.

saw it at Barbados last week, it didnt smile at me even though i was offered at a very good price for it.

yup, i like that one a lot - the crown guards are a nice touch.

contrary to what many say, I like the new Ingenieur (with crown guards) more than the previous ones...and the great part is, if you dont like the blue, or think the blue's appeal will fade away, there is the non-limited edition regular production that has also been updated to this design and size (shared here under)

The IWC reminds me of the Royal Oak with its angular lines. Very masculine looking.

I think yes he did..I am sure that he designd the following three iconic watches: AP RO and VC Overseas and PP Nautilus...the new Inge reminds me more of VC Overseas though...and i love both to be sure

Just got my new Ingenieur Mission Earth yesterday. I bought the SS bracelet version, however, I also ordered a rubber strap to ad versatility.
