Ben Bridge Rolex Event! Or: I Died and went to Heaven!!!
Today, "My" AD had their anual Rolex event, with pre-loved, special deals, (free financing), Grail watches of every kind... I thought I had died and gone to heaven. They had THOUSANDS of Rolex's there! Ok, so I'm exagerating.... a bit.. but more then I've EVER seen. Bleow are some pictures, but that wasn't even HALF the number that was in the store! Here are some observations I made:
1. DJ II As some people have pointed out... it was underwhelming. The size seemed a bit awkward compared to the appearance of the watch, it felt OK, but the look was just so... so... "plain" is the only word I can use to describe it. I must be used to a busier dial of my Daytona and old GMT, but it just looked... Boring. Anyway, to me, a bit of a dissapointment. 2. GMT II-C. A FANTASTIC Watch. I don't think I have ever taken a close look at one before, but it felt great, looked awsome, and it sang... sang to me very loudly! 3. Day Date II. This Watch, was impressive. It has an excellent feel to it, worn on the wrist it just felt... sturdy. For some reason, the size seemed more appropiate on this then the DJ, maybe it's because there is more on the dial Not completely my style, but a fantastic watch! 4. The new-Blue, White Gold Submariner. WOW! That is a stunning watch!!! It does take a bit of getting used to the new shade of blue, but give it a chance, when you see it in person it does grow on you after only a couple minutes. The AG felt sturdy, heavy, and excellently proportioned, ANOTHER Fantastic watch! 5. Rose Gold Daytona. First time I saw this in person. The color is more Copper then Rose-Gold. It was nice... but ... I guess you had to have the right skin tone to wear it. It looked awful on me... but someone with a lighter skin color it looked very nice. I could go on all day, and they practically had to throw me out of the store, but it was such an enjoyable day I didn't want to leave! For those of us in Southern California, tomorrow the show moves to La Jolla at Swiss Watch Co. They have always been very nice in there and I encourage anyone interested to check it out... I might spend the day there tomorrow myself! (On a serious note, if anyone is interested in purchasing from an AD, please give mine a chance, the people there are the best; I'll be glad to furnish contact information). Yep, felt like I died and went to Heaven... I think I saw JJ with a pair of wings! |

WOW, Paul! I would have loved to have been there myself! Amazing stock! The big question is....now that you've seen and ruled out the DJII, when are you pulling the trigger on that GMTII-C?????

TheVTCGuy, just curious if the special deals included discounts from MSRP on new watches?
I have been to a few Ben Bridges and they've always said MSRP, unlike some other ADs that are more willing to deal - just wondering if you happened to ask about pricing? |

Very nice! If our BB had been more accomodating, they may have made a sale to me.

Nice one, Paul.
I'm glad you share the same views as me as far as the DJ-II is concerned - quite a disappointment. It's the TT GMT-IIC you should be looking at, pal. You definitely won't be disappointed. JJ

Great observations,
When I went to my local AD event last week, my thoughts where almost the same as yours on the blue WG Sub and Rose Daytona (really looked copper). |
