This is a stupid question from a noob, but are all Oyster watches waterproof (not to depths, but as far as washing goes?)

Hence the word OYSTER.......which signifies that every Rolex Oyster is guaranteed waterproof to at least a minimum depth of 100 m (330 ft).

The Subs are waterproof down to 300 m (1000 ft), Sea-Dweller 4000 ft. and the new DSSD....a whopping 12,800 ft.
