Would Rolex make a moonphase model again? if so would you be Interested?>>>>>>>>>
This question has been on my mind after I saw the 10th anniversary issue of watchtime article about Brett Ratner (whoever that is). He had like 5 Rolex Old moonphase and perpetual calander antiques(long with some very stunning PP's). I stared at them for some time let me tell you as I was captivated by their sheer beauty. It got me to thinking why Rolex does not offer some sort of Grand Complication with a moonphase in their current lineup? I would save for one even if it took half my lifetime (prolly would) Do you think they just let it slide and dont care about the high complications market. I know if you had an old Rolex moonphase (sorry I dont know any reference #'s) Rolex wouldn't even touch it for service am I right? Is it just not in their current Market/style to offer one? Just imagine what a modern Perpetual calendar chrono/moonphase/minute repeater Rolex would look like? Also I was wondering if Rolex ever produced a Tourbillon model? Any answers/insight fellow Wis's? Just a thought on my behalf.

Dan...I would love a moonphase Rolex!!!
I do think you're right though,Rolex most likely would not service them now and you would have to source out a good vintage specialist to repair it....Greg(Mosco) had some great pics of other brands with some really complex moonphase and sunrise/sunset models out in the current market!! Not really sure why Rolex doesn't do this anymore, but I'm with you in the hope that one day it comes back!!!!

I wonder if it has anything to do with their current place in the market of haute horology. PP does em, JLC does em, Breguet, Glashutte, Lange, Vacheron,Muller and so many others. Would my question have to do with where Rolex thinks where they sit on the level of luxury watches? then why the Lepoard? why the Zebra ice? I would like them to show some old school tradition instead of just old bling du jour. Insights?

I was once travelling on the Bangkok Skytrain and an elderly gent had one on next to me, I asked the wife to ask him about it, aparently it was given to him as a leaving gift I dont think he knew the value.
Ha I regret not making him a resonable offer.

Had to check out your poll Dan
Love old Rolex and love MoonPhase I am getting a moonphase one day, either a Patek Phillipe or a Martin Braun, if Rolex came out with one that was about the same price as a WG Daytona or DD, I'd most likely buy the Rolex instead.

I'd love it if Rolex issued a moonphase/perpetual calendar watch again but I believe that was the extent of its entry into high-end complications because I don't think Rolex ever made any tourbillions or minute repeaters (though I might be wrong)..

Hi Dan!!!
I couldn't agree with you more!!!! I think Rolex is crazy not to bring back a Moonphase. Here is a photo of the ultimate vintage Rolex Moonphase which belongs to John Goldberger in Italy. Rolex made two different Moonphase watches. The first was an Reference 8171, but it was not an Oyster. The second Moonphase Rolex made came in a Super Oyster case as pictured below which has a Rolex Reference Number of 6062. This ultra-rare "Black Star Moonphase" is in New Old Stock condition and is considered to be one of the most appealing vintage Rolex watches.
