Anyone notice there's a lot of Daytona "haters"?

It seems that the Daytona is one of the most controversial watch. Many seem to dislike the watch just because it's price higher than other SS watches. I also noticed there's seems to be a jealous, envious tone to many of the negative posts. I doubt this would even be an issue if Daytona's cost the same as Subs. All this dislike just because of pricing? What gives?

I think that some of your argument has logic to it. Some people just want a watch that has a date window with it. I don't think the majority of Daytona haters are Rolex owners, but the probably own another timepiece brand such as Omega, Tag, etc. Trying to justify their ownership within their own brand.

Subs are even more popular. They definately don't near the type of negativity the Daytona gets. I don't see many multi-paragraph posts about how why they don't like the Sub, GMT, etc.

I do think there are a lot of people who dislike the Daytona....which of course is fine...but it seems to get a lot of negative attention compared to the other models. Probably won't change either. I still love mine!

If this is as a result of my earlier thread, I can assure you that I am not a hater! The first Rolex I ever had on my wrist was my father's WG Daytona (116509) I occasionally borrowed when he was away on business. I like the daytona, I just think that the SS versions are overpriced.

I'm in the same boat, I admire the TT and 18Ct versions - the White Gold Daytona is one of my favourite watches

Haters on TRF? I haven't seen them.

If my Tissot PRS200 ever dies, I'd hope it would come back as a Daytona!

I don't hate it. In fact I would love one. But the major problem I have is that the Daytona has not smile back at me yet.....
I believe it is a two way street, and it takes two to tangle......

I don't consider myself a Daytona hater...Wish I had $10K I could throwdown for one. I love the design. Don't think I would have the need / patience to futz with the screws to use the cronograph features...

I just keep asking myself if they are worth the price. We all know Rolexes are expensive. No news flash. But $10K... that's a tough one. My Sub and GMT together were less than the cost of a new Daytona.

Having said all that...I DO want one. Just wish I could justify the spend.

Not sure it is jealousy per se.

No hate here. I just don't care for any chronographs! Haven't found one I like.
I do like the look of the Rolex Daytona, but I tried it on and the dial is just too busy for me.

I like simplier watches. No more than 4 hands for me!

Im not a hater of the Daytona, I just dont prefer it, though it is a beautiful timepiece.

I much prefer Rolex, DJ/DD, Subs, and the GMT's over the Daytona. Truth be told I much prefer the Omega Speedmaster Professional over the Daytona.

It has an incredible history and is every bit as good as the Rolex IMO. I dont feel a Daytona is 3-5 times the watch the Speedy is, though its price says it is. I know it has an in house movement, which adds to its cost Im sure. I just feel that $10K USD+ for a stainless watch is a little much. You could have 2 Subs for that, and maybe a used DJ too. The more Rolex's the better!

Like I hate on the Bugatti Veyron :) LOL

I don't hate it but I don't like it enough to buy one. The tach engraving gives it a busy look. I have a Seamaster chrono with a rotating bezel that is at least functional. As for the chrono function I find it very useful. I now have a Breitling Aerospace I call my "cooking watch." Every watch should have a countdown timer for those of us who cook on the grill and read at the same time!
