Well, in the short time I have been on this forum, I have come to genuinely respect and value the comments and opinions of all of you. I have also gotten "a thing" about the Explorer I. And I am bound and determined that I am going to eventually get one.
My thoughts are: sell my Omega Seamaster Pro 36mm and my Omega Aqua Terra 8500. The Seamaster Pro is a great little watch, it's my every day work watch. The Aqua Terra is one of the most beautiful objects I have ever owned. But it gets little or no wrist time. It is a bit big for me at 41.5mm (not the fault of the watch, I was too impulsive, and should have waited and got the 38.5mm model). My Milgauss at 40mm is perfect. I also love the 36mm size of my Railmaster (that is a keeper) and the Explorer I.

Aqua Terra caliber 8500, 41.5mm, Teck-grey dial, ss bracelet

I realize that opinions on here will be slightly biased

However, at least the sale of my Aqua Terra has been on my mind for some time.
The Explorer I would be my every day watch. I will probably end up liking it so much, I will wear it on weekends, too.
Any comments, or thoughts, will be greatly appreciated. I am not sure if I really want all of you to talk me into this, or should I just save for a while and get the Explorer I as well.

If the Aqua Tera isn't getting enough wrist time, go for it! I'm sure you won't regret your decision! But wow, that's a beauty.

Your OMEGA AQUA TERRA is stunning. I have been tempted more than once by the 8500 movmt and the wonderful design.

BUT if the EXP sings, go with that. EXP is a great watch with a much, much longer pedigree than the AT 8500.

Opinions are like...well, you know.
However, I personally would prefer the Exp. I over either/both of the pieces you're talking about selling.

Here's what I'd do: Trade in all three Omegas for the Explorer I and a 38mm Aqua Terra 8500. The Railmaster looks so close to the Explorer I, I feel as though you won't need/wear both, the SMP looks a little dated IMO, and I've never liked the valve. Trading for the AT in 38mm leaves you with three watches 36, 38 and 40mm, with two being Rolex, one Omega.

That is great advice! However, I would essentially be trading an Aqua Terra for an Aqua Terra. I would lose so much on the one I have, then have to pay an extra couple of grand to get the smaller one. I would love to do that! Thing is, too, that the price of an Aqua Terra and an Explorer I are almost the same, give-or-take a couple of hundred dollars. I would need to sell both in order to finance the Explorer I.

ps Forgot to mention. You are right, the Seamster Pro is a 2007 model, but I actually just traded my Breitling Seawolf at my AD on an even trade. I really like it better than the newer model. Also, oddly enough there seem to be quite a few Omega fans who now want that model, which could work out to my advantage as well.

That's all true. However, if your Omega and Rolex dealers are the same, they may very well give you favorable trades on the old watches if you're trading up. Might be worth the discussion, you can always walk away.

Maybe try trading your AT to an individual on TZ, WUS, etc who has the smaller AT (that is a sick watch) and is looking for a larger size. Then sell the Seamaster and Railmaster (due to its similarity to the Explorer) for an Explorer. You end up w/ the AT you want and the Explorer. Just a thought.

Carl, knowing you as I do my friend I would say sell the two watches and get an explorer.
I know you have a thing for the more classical sized watches and the exp1 would be a perfect compliment for the railmaster and the Milly.
When you said about the expy it just had a gut feeling that is a perfect watch for you!

With the two Rolexes and the Omega you would have a stunning collection and I know one that you will enjoy hugely!

Heck, to encourage you more I will give you one of my Gshocks to use as a work beater

Well, guys, I sure do thank you for all your ideas and support. I think Shandy is right. The only one definite thing in this whole equation, is that my Railmaster has to stay. I did think that it was too similar to the explorer, but I have the leather strap on my Railmaster, which IMO makes the watch look a lot better than with the stainless bracelet. Here is a pic:

I do agree there is quite a bit of similarity. However.
My little 36mm Railmaster is my favourite watch, and believe it or not almost a tossup between it and my Milgauss.
The Explorer I to me is just a bit more versatile than even the Railmaster. It would be my everyday and work watch.

I own both the Explorer 1 and an Aqua Terra Quartz. The Rolex is a great watch but is not significantly better than the Omega ( I know the Rolex guys here will not agree ). I would hang on to your Aqua Terra, which looks beautiful, and save for the Rolex.

I kind of agree. Actually, my motive for selling the Aqua Terra is more because of the size. I wear it the odd time, then it gets no wrist time for weeks. The Railmaster, on the other hand, I wear all the time on the weekends. At least, I did until I got the Milgauss.
I do like the "feel" of the Milgauss as well better than the Omega. Can't explain it better than to say it just feels finer, smoother and more like fine jewelry than the Omega. I will have to try on the Explorer at my AD to see if I get the same feeling.

Hate to see that go, but I understand.

Since the AT is too big, I would say definitely unload that. Maybe buy a pre-owned Explorer, save some coin. The older, smaller lugged watches really are more elegant, IMHO.

Either way, great watches and I do not envy you your decision, Especially on the 2252.50.

Actually, it always did. This model, when it came out with the caliber 8500 was offered in both sizes. At the time, I had all Breitling watches, the smallest being 44mm, so the 41.5mm seemed fine to me. It was one of the first ones my AD got in, and I jumped at the chance to get it. Had I not been so impulsive, I would have waited until the model had been out for a while, and I would probably end up owning the 38.5mm. Perfect size. My Milgauss is 40mm and I find it quite comfortable. I even thought of selling the AT, at a loss of course, and buying one at 38.5mm. That would be like spending 9 grand on a watch with a price of $5600. so it's a bit ridiculous. I agree, though it is a beautiful watch.
