Does the Rolex Milgauss hold it's value?

Hi all, I'm a new member here at the Rolex Forum. I currently own a Rolex Deepsea and I'm very happy with it. I'm in the market to purchase a Rolex Milgauss. I visited my local AD to get a up close hands on view of Milgauess. I love the clean and classic look. I believe it will be a good compliment to my DSSD. Does the Milgauss hold it's value on the resell market?

IMHO, none of the Rolexes hold their value when purchased at Retail price or close to retail price. 2nd hand Rolexes have an inherent intrinsic value, but you will lose money from what you paid. Retail in the US for the Black or the White Milgauss is $6,200. Typically, they resell for ~ $4,000 - $4,500 in good condition.

Buy it for the love, not the investment. I love my GV! Get more compliments than my SS Daytona. Between the crystal and the seconds hand, there's nothing like it.

IMO you'll lose money (short term) on any new Rolex bought at retail. The older 1019s took a while before they started to appreciate.

The reward is in the ownership.

No watch will hold its value, unless ofcourse it is one of a kind piece. You should buy watches for the love and not as an investment.

My GV has been appreciated...by me everytime I wear it.

Seriously though, I thinks it's like anything else of quality, buy it low, hold it for ten years then sell it for what you paid for it and be happy in having owned it.

My GV is my most comfortable Rolex and is quickly becoming my favorite as well.

Get it for a very keen price and the watch will hardly depreciate from that point onwards.

If Rolex discontinue it as they did the previous two incarnations then it's only going to be upwards.

Maybe looking to purchase one that is very lightly used for even a new one from one of the trusted sellers from the sales forum may be an option? That was most if not all of the depreciation is already taken out.

I will not comment on the investment side I will just say that I purchased one off one of the forums and got a great price. It get's delivered tomorrow so my vote is.......if you love it go for it and I think it will complement your deepsea very well

Thank you for all the feedback on my Milgauss question. I agree, no watch should be bought as an investment. I have inquired about a Milgauss GV from a trusted seller from the Rolex forum. It's a bit pricer than a slightly used $4000-$4500 Milgauss i've seen on TZ and other forums for sale. IMHO, based on a $6200 retail, the Milgauss value hasn't held up very well. I guess that's why I'm concerned about the Milgauss GV holding it's value.

The Milgauss in it's current form has only been out for a couple of years..

It took a decade off, and now since it's re-release, you can't hardly find any of the older Milgauss for under 20k or so......

.. So, I would say that from a historical perspective, you were better off buying a Milgauss than most of the other models..........

I would not even consider what TZ or TRF are selling the new ones for used today.... it is irrelevant as you could hardly give one away 20 years ago..... that's the investment time you need to look at...

I am definitely going to buy a Milgauss however I have read that the white face is not very popular and I do like it .
So the choice is either White or Black with Green. Being a women a would prefer white .

Any help would be appreciated . My other watch is a DateJust Oyster Perpetual

Personally (and it's just MHO) I think that the white face will be a collectors item of the future simply because they are (at the moment) not the most popular models. Of course, I could be totally and utterly wrong!!

Love my white dial Milgauss. I paid 4500 form a member here. It's still worth 4500. Get the white dial! Very unique watch! Mine says hi.

Time will tell if the current version will be as collectible as the previous versions, of course. And who knows for sure? I think that it will always be a niche piece in the Rolex lineup (if it's there at all- think Turn-O-Graph).

That can turn on or turn off future buyers.

At this moment i do not think that milgauss would hold its value , you have to wait for another 20 years more, just like the vintage milgauss which in the past, not so many collectors did collect,then it becomes rare.

IMHO the GV doesn't hold well in value compared to the white or black dials.
