Enicar Sherpa Pilot

Here's a nice little weekend "junk box fresh" car boot buy, an Enicar Sherpa Pilot watch which is in great working order and very accurate. The plexi is a little worse for wear, but the dial and movement are in excellent condition. I purchased it from a retired Qantas pilot who was having a bit of a clear out and he said he brought it new back in 1966. It's always nice to get a bit of history with these kind of buys, makes it so much more interesting than buying them from a sale room or dealer, where you very rarely get any provenance.

I've always been a big fan of the Enicar Sherpa line. Congrats on a great pick up with excellent lienage.

I have always regretted selling mine.

James

Interesting watch, nice acquisition
So it has a rotating 24 hour ring which is rotated by the second crown?

Thanks James

Steve, thats it, the top crown rotates the 24 hour bezel. Unfortunatly no book or papers came with it and I have been back in touch with the guy to ask him if he might still have them tucked away somewhere, but no luck. I will keep trolling the internet salerooms to see if I can pick one up, you never know.

Hi guys, just a follow up on this one (two years + later). I have been searching world wide for a new plexi for it, as can be seen it is a bit rough with a big chunk out at 2.30. Because it has the 24 hour bezel underneath the glass the glass has to be a lot deeper to allow for it. Nobody is making them any more and there is nothing remotely similar available so I had given up on ever finding one. Last week I decided to get it serviced by a watchmaker in Brisbane who a friend had recommended. After asking him if he might have a glass hidden away he said give me a few days and I will let you know. He came back to me a week later saying nothing in his stock and nothing available from all his contacts but he said why don't we try to turn the damage out on my lathe, the glass is very thick and there is a good chance it will work.......I said why not, worth a try and sure enough, he did a perfect job, the chip has gone and it's as good as new again, unbelievable!
