i had a one hour chat with my AD 2day. well he was speaking most of the time anywayz.
but i have decided to keep my watch as it as.
he let me knew that he would b keen to send it into rolex if i insisted, but its not really that much of a great deal, and this part of watch is pure handmade when putting the lume onto the dial. i accepted what he said since it did sound reasonable. And decided to keep my lovely gmtIIc as it is, maybe even adding character to my watch. now that this is all over, i can finally enjoy my GMT as it is again. haha. thanx for all the help guys. greatly appreciated :D

well done man.. Now you can rest at ease knowing that you did what was necessary.. It would be a shame if you had note gone to the AD and had spite later on.....

for me, however, adding character is more like the Tritium changing color.. not a defect from the manufacturer.

it looks like the Rolex tech had the shakes when he handmade ur dial..

Whatever makes you happy...but why not send it in to Rolex for free? And if your Rolex is fast or slow, then just ask them to regulate it too at the same time. This defect (however small) is your free pass to get your watch regulated (if needed).

This is what i would do...but if you are happy, then that is all it matters.

the point is to make yourself happy..every person it is differene..but it is very nice for all of us to know what to expect from rolex and what not

I wouldn't take a PN Daytona back to the dealer because the "lolly pop" is off center. And I wouldn't take back a bracelet with a misprinted "PATETED" on the divers extension. They were produced in large numbers (relatively speaking) and are not a single example of a mistake/defect/misprint. Thats what makes many things "unique". Coins are another example of something that is produced in "numbers" that becomes collectable if there is a misprint. I think that your dial is a single mistake that represents poor quality. I don't think that history will look back on your dial and say its "unique" IMO. I wouldn't let the AD talk me into keeping the dial. I would have it replaced with a new dial, if it were mine.

That's cool Toby. I had a minor imperfection on the lume on my M series GMT IIc, similar to yours but on the 7 o'clock marker. I lived with it for a year and decided last week that it just bugged me too much so I took it to Sydney RSC last week. They are currently replacing the dial free of charge under warranty.
