One More Deduction
Im sorry about all the controversy the last thread caused. I have another question about a 1680 Rolex. It now has a correct vintage bracelet $400. Its been serviced by the official Rolex center But it has a 5513 back. How big of deal is this? Ive heard rumors that Rolex put 5513 backs on 1680 if they didn't have 1680 backs in stock? I once tried to sell the watch on ebay because I was so disgusted. I disclosed the fact it had a 5513 back and bidders were sending me PMs offering $1400/$1700 Thats with a mint vintage bracelet? I pulled the watch because really I was getting insulted as this watch cost me $5500.

Can you show us the listing? Could be the way you described it that turn bidders away. Did you include pictures and documents from RSC in the auction?
I personally am one of those who think with the 5513 back it loses its collecting value. I won't buy one, but thats just me. |

Tony, Rolex is out of 1680 case backs, they're using 5513s.
This very topic came up a while back on TZ. I personally wouldn't be to bothered. Interesting reading, http://forums.timezone.com/index.php...0&rev=&reveal= |

I dont have the auction because its now 3 years old and ebay wont let you pull up auctions that old. Whats amazing is the guy that I bought it from is using the very same pictures he used for my watch. I really think this guy manufactures these things. I distinctly remember calling him about the 5513 case back and him telling me that he often goes to Rolex watch gatherings in LA and sometimes he (runs into) 1680 case backs and that he would send me one if he did. Well its 3 years later and that never happened
http://stores.ebay.com/Ramerica-Masterpiece-Jewelry The link for the watch is not working but if you type in 1680 in his search feature it comes up. |

If I were in the market for a red sub and the seller had the rolex receipt stating the 5513 was the only available back I guess it wouldn't matter to me (Especially if they looked the same externally).
