Hi there I purchased a 1986 6694 last year as a wedding gift. I got married on 22nd December, so it has been sitting in it's box until this time. I am very pleased with it, but my only worry is that it only lasts a couple of days once fully wound. Please excuse my lack of knowledge if this is normal, but I was expecting it to last longer! Thanks

Two full days is fine. If you are wearing this watch, you should wind it every morning when you put it on.

With my 6294, I can miss a day, but the morning of day three it will be stopped.

I find winding a watch a little pleasure. It is another one of those little things that will soon pass into history and is already foreign to most people.

I thought you meant something else by "life span". I think you are referring to the power reserve. 36-40 hours is normal for this caliber of manual-wind movement. Wind it every morning and you'll be fine. You might have to reset the time once a week or so.

There are manual wind clocks and watches that are well over a hundred years old and still ticking away...

Automatics haven't even been around that long... It wasn't until 1969 that Zenith put the first chronograph that was automatic together... and Rolex chose it a few years later for their first Automatic Daytona.....

A manual wind watch is expected to be wound every day..... ideally the first thing you do in the morning before putting it on..........
