Buying a Seadweller 4000

Well I´ve been pondering buying a rolex for a few years now.

I´ve been hesitant because wearing it might send the wrong signals (yuppie, nouveau riche, as#hole) I could go on.

I´ve had both Breitling and Omega. Of them Breitling was a big dissapointment qualitywise.

I´ve decided I want a seadweller (not that I will be diving that deep). I´ve held a fake submariner next to an original and could not tell the difference. Somehow I´ve gotten the idea that a seadweller would be harder to falsify. So where do I buy an original Seadweller in Europe? If I prefer buying online since I live far away from a certified rolex dealer who should I deal with in Europe and What is a fair price? What is the suggested retail price from Rolex in Europe? I´ve seen prices wary from 3500 Euros to 5500 Euros....

Buying online is tricky. It is best to buy from an AD if buying new.

There are sites like www.preownedrolex.com which has a great reputation if you are going to buy online, however they are all used.

I think there is a site called Alanfurman which sells grey market Rolex, however be warned that any warranty service needs to be sent back to them and not Rolex.

I'm surprised to hear that Omega and Breitlings that you've owned have disappointed you. I've got an Omega 2531.80 and Breitling Chrono Avenger which I'm very pleased with, along with my Sea-Dweller.

SD's are also great watches, overly engineered and proven to be tough as nails. SDs are also heavier and sits higher on your wrist. It has SELs and some folks find it uncomfortable so you have to try it out yourself.

The Breitling (a Cosmonaut 24 h) Is nothing but trouble. I wont get into that.
Omega No issues with Speedmaster (MW) and Speedmaster de ville.
I also have a Seiko Flightmaster which is on it´s 20th year of flawless ticking.

Rolex official ADs do not sell via Internet list price for new SD now is around 4,160 Eur.Agree with Mike about the old watch shop. And can highly recommend the below link, have bought from them before, excellent to deal with ask for Dee.

I've owned Hamiltons, Jaeger LeCoultres and Baume & Merciers among others but I'd never had a Rolex until this past year when my lovely wife gave me a Datejust for my 42nd birthday.

Before that I sort of felt the same way as you about owning a Rolex - "yuppie, nouveau riche, as#hole" - and that's probably why I never thought about acquiring one for myself.

I have to tell you though, now that I have it I'm sorry I waited so long. It is simply an elegant, quality timepiece and you'll be as glad you did it as I was.
